Student answer (Band 5.0)
International sports events such as The Olympics or the Football World cup are good way to bring countries together, but sometimes these events create competition, not friendship, between countries. No doubt, everyone is somehow connected to its country emotionally, and when it comes to any sport event people are whole heartedly connected to not only the players , but also concerned about their country.
Firstly, lets talk about the connection between sports and countries. At international level sports are a good source of happy relations among countries. People visit to different countries to watch their favorite players, playing for their country. So the travelling among countries can help create good relations, which also better for economy, and helps people to explore different cultures.
Secondly, I strongly believe that these events create competition rather than friendship between countries, because many people are so emotionally attached to their country or players, that their victory becomes the matter of life and death. For example, once I remember when I was a child , and a World Cup match was live on TV, and people were so excited all over the country. At the final moments, the our team was losing the match and people were getting so aggressive, even at the end we lose and some people broken their TV's in aggression.
In conclusion, Sports events are a best source of interaction among countries, however they must not create competition and, people should keep their emotions in control and must understand that, no matter what, Defeat or Victory, its part of the game.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and give a personal position: the second body paragraph argues that strong national attachment can turn events into rivalry, while the conclusion says sports should promote interaction without uncontrolled competition. The childhood World Cup example supports this point, but the view that events bring countries together is less fully explained; travel and cultural exchange are mentioned, yet the link to lasting friendship is not developed. Your position also shifts slightly: you first say competition is stronger, then conclude that events are a good source of interaction. Clarify how both effects can occur and state which view you ultimately support. The response is 239 words, 11 words below the 250-word minimum; the 21 words copied from the prompt are not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting the contrasting views, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak: the first body paragraph moves from spectators travelling to economic benefits and cultural exploration without explaining each connection in detail. Some linking is also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the idea of interaction rather than clearly resolving the contrast between friendship and competition. Build each paragraph around one main claim, then connect the example or explanation directly to it; use references such as “these visits” or “such rivalries” to make links more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “international level,” “emotionally attached,” “cultures,” and “aggressive.” The example also gives the discussion some specificity. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “happy relations,” “a good source of interaction,” and “the matter of life and death.” Repetition of “country,” “people,” and “events” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise expressions that distinguish cooperation from rivalry, and check spelling and capitalisation in terms such as “World Cup.” These improvements would make your meaning more natural and exact without changing the ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a longer sentence describing the match, so there is some variety. However, errors are frequent, and some complex sentences are difficult to follow. Examples include “events … are good way” (missing an article), “people visit to different countries” (incorrect verb pattern), “the our team was losing” (unnecessary article), and “some people broken their TV’s” (incorrect verb form). There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, particularly in the long match example. Practise accurate article use, past-tense forms, and sentence construction; then proofread for agreement and punctuation.
