Student answer (Band 6.0)

Sports Events are increasingly grown all around the world, there is a very serious debate about sports events such as the olympics and the football world cup increase the international relations between countries to these events increase competitions among the people. I strongly agree to the former as it creates friendly relations among governments of participating countries. This essay meticulously discusses both view and give my opinion about the debate.

On the brighter side, many advocates do support that international athlete events can help to elevate relations among nations. Generally, these events involve participation of different people from diffrent countries. as it creates a greater platform for participants of diverse age groups. It also involves people irrespective of caste, color or race. This inculcates the feeling of unity among nations towards the people. Not only these events tighten the relations but also strive for economic development among nations. such as sale of international brands related to sports equipment, influencing local markets on global stages.

On Contrast, some critics argue these events demand competitive spirit among the participants which directly affect the international dealings. the players and the government with a vision to win more medals and competitions do sometimes follow unethical routes. This type of feelings not only affect the good interactions but also create chaos among public and leads to jealousy among losing nations. For example, from history we can take many evidences of some famous countries using drugs and medical support to gain medals.

In my opinion, although the advantages of international Sports events outweigh disadvantages, these programs can help the nations develop locally and internationally In cultural, economic and sports field. these events should bring in peace, prosperity and sense of brotherhood to brotherhood, although in all citizens among the nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for the view that international events foster friendly relations. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including participation across backgrounds and economic activity, while the second explains how medal-focused competition and unethical conduct can create tension. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the link between sports-brand sales and stronger relations is unclear, and the example of countries using drugs is general rather than specific. The conclusion also introduces broad claims about peace and prosperity without showing how they follow from the discussion. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or a concrete example, and make your final position more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion, and phrases such as “On the brighter side” and “On Contrast” signal the change in viewpoint. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “This inculcates the feeling of unity” does not clearly identify what “This” refers to, and the economic point shifts abruptly from unity to sales. The final sentence is difficult to follow because it repeats “brotherhood” and combines several ideas without clear links. Use more precise referencing and organise each paragraph around one main point, followed by its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “international relations,” “competitive spirit,” “unethical routes,” and “economic development.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond basic language, and the intended meaning is generally understandable. However, some less common expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “international athlete events,” “elevate relations,” and “influencing local markets on global stages.” There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “diffrent” and “competitions” where the singular idea of competition is intended. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise, familiar phrasing is more effective than ambitious wording that does not fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast structure in “although the advantages … outweigh disadvantages” and a relative clause in “countries using drugs and medical support to gain medals.” Some sentences communicate their main point, but grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas hard to follow. For example, the opening sentence joins several clauses with commas, while “This essay … discusses both view and give my opinion” has a mismatch in number and verb form. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “as it creates” and “the players and the government.” Practise separating complete ideas into sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and proofreading punctuation.
