Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, soprt is getting more and more populer due to international events such as Football Word Cup and Olympics games. This trend have crucial impact on countries relationship. Although, some people belive that this can cuase compition betweeen nation, but I believe that it can help to bring two counties togather. Both the view will be discussed in this essay with appropriate comments.
To begin with, there are many commnets that internatinal sports events can improve friendship between two nation. The first one is that, when other nation players visit diffrent countries to play such games, the hosting nation give their best in hospitality of the players. This can results into positivity between those nations and the old conflict can solved during this trip, because other nation giant politicines also visiting during important matches. Moreover, many famous and sucssesful businessmans are visiting during thses games for entertainment, and they end up investing money into that nation if they found any relevent and bettar opportunity while on trip. Business is really important factor for countries relationship.
On the other hand, this event can turn out to the compititor of the hosting nation insted of friendship. There are chances that, when one nation players are trying to display only their culture rather than respecting the others. This can turn into conflict. For example, before starting every football match both nation play their own national anthem. During this time both nations have to show respect for other counties national anthem.if this not happen it can lead to conflict between two nations.
Above all the comments, international sport events can bring two nations togather either with the visit of giant politicion or businessman invesment. However, this can turn out to be a compition due to culural missunderstanding such as not showing respect to the other nation's national antherm.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion: you acknowledge that sporting events may create competition, but argue that they can bring countries together. The discussion of hospitality, political visits and business investment gives relevant reasons for the positive view, while the national-anthem example illustrates how disrespect could cause tension. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the competition paragraph relies mainly on one hypothetical example, and the link between visiting politicians or investors and improved relations is asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how sporting rivalry can either remain friendly or escalate, and support your claims with a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding summary. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For instance, the discussion moves from players’ hospitality to political visits and then business investment without clearly showing how each point supports the claim about friendship. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer links between each reason and the main argument, and develop a more direct progression within paragraphs; also ensure references such as “this event” clearly identify what they refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “hospitality,” “conflict,” “investment” and “national anthem,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable throughout, including “soprt,” “populer,” “compition” and “politicion.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “turn out to the competitor of the hosting nation” and “giant politicines.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Build a reliable range of collocations for this topic—for example, “foster international relations,” “friendly rivalry” and “show respect for another country’s anthem”—and proofread carefully for spelling and word form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction (“Although…”) and a conditional structure in “if this not happen it can lead to conflict.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation reduce accuracy. For example, “This trend have” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the hosting nation give” should use a singular verb. The opening sentence of the introduction also combines “Although” with “but,” creating a faulty structure. In the anthem example, the conditional clause needs an auxiliary (“if this does not happen”), and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise checking one clause at a time, especially agreement and complete conditional forms.
