Student answer (Band 5.0)
many individuals are saying that international olympic games and football world cup are a good way to bring countries together, i think its true because players have to travel overseas countries for playing , and they have to stay for many days in other countries, players are representing there countries name before there own name ,in huge numbers public of every country attached with there teams , they also watch to playing their team on social media , they love to watching them ,due to this international events , fans also travel across world with there teams for watching events and fans and public also see and listin another country language and cuture , however some peoples thinks that this international sports and olympics creta compition not friendsship, i agree sometime this happens in feild , every team wants to win when they go on feild for playing , sometime players got aggressive, but this happen only on feild , after match players become nomal friends very rear time a player can take ut personal, so in my opinion its a good way to bring countries together , beacause due to this international events peoples can travel internationally as fans , peoples learn overseas culture.due to this international events relation of many countries are very good, they are doing bussiness also, many times countries helping each other in bad time who build relationships throw this events so international sports football worldcup and other sports games are very important for build good relationship and bussiness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion that international sports events generally bring countries together. Your explanation that fans travel, encounter other cultures and languages, and that players often become friends after matches is relevant. You also acknowledge that competition and aggression can occur on the field. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that events lead to good relations and business would be stronger with a specific example or clearer reasoning. The response contains 242 words, so it is 8 words below the required minimum; 11 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This shortfall, together with limited development of some ideas, keeps the response from fully addressing the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable line of thought: it first supports the unifying effect of events, then considers competition, and ends by restating your opinion. Linking expressions such as “however,” “but,” and “so” help show some relationships between ideas. However, the entire response is presented as one long paragraph, and many points run together without clear sentence boundaries. The repeated use of “due to this international events” and “they” also makes the progression repetitive and sometimes unclear. Organise the answer into separate paragraphs for the two views and your conclusion, and use clearer references and a wider range of linking phrases. This would make the overall progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “representing,” “aggressive,” “culture,” “relationships,” and “business,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “international events,” “countries,” and “players.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “compition,” “friendsship,” “listin,” and “nomal,” which can distract the reader. Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “public ... attached with there teams” and “take it personal.” Build a more varied set of accurate collocations for describing international cooperation and sporting rivalry, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences using words such as “because,” “when,” and “however,” and the reader can usually identify your main position. However, the response relies heavily on long, loosely joined sentences, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty. For example, “players have to travel overseas countries for playing” has problems with the sentence pattern, while “many times countries helping each other” lacks a correctly formed verb. There are also frequent issues with articles, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation, including the repeated use of commas where full stops are needed. Use shorter, complete sentences alongside carefully controlled complex ones, and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
