Student answer (Band 5.5)
International sports competitions, such as Olympics and football world cup, are often Considered an effective way of bringing countries together. While some people argues that these events creates aggression, no friendship, between countries. I believe they can play a significent role in bringing players from different countries. This essay will discuss both views.
On the one hand, People believes that international sports events are an excellent way of bringing countries together. Players from different cultural and social background meat other players representing their cultural values. Allowing them to participate will also increase tourism. As supporters, from different part of the world come to support their favourit players. For instance, Players from different countries compete together for one event representing their traditional values. Therefore, Such events should be held to encourage freindship among countries.
On the other hand, Some people believe that these events will create problems between countries. Thats true, but country pride is more important then sportsmanship. Sometimes, when any team looses. The supporters get to much emotional that they get into argument, aggression. For instance, Cricket match between countries with historical and political clashes. Such as, pakistan vs india cricket match. In these type of matches supporters get to much emotional and get into arguments. As a result instend of promoting freindship, these events may display negative attitude towards other nations.
In conclusion, international sports events can sometime, create aggression. But on the other hand having these type of events has more benefits such as tourism, cultural and traditional values.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear overall position: you see benefits in bringing people together, while acknowledging that events can also provoke hostility. The discussion of tourism and contact between players is relevant, and the Pakistan–India cricket example supports the opposing view. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that players meet while representing cultural values does not clearly show how this builds friendship, and the conclusion lists benefits without fully weighing them against the risks. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or a specific consequence, and make your final opinion more decisive about which view you find stronger.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Allowing them to participate” has an uncertain reference, and “For instance” introduces an example that largely repeats the preceding point rather than extending it. The second body paragraph also repeats the Pakistan–India example in two consecutive sentences. Use pronouns with clear referents, avoid repeating the same example, and connect each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “international sports events,” “supporters,” “tourism,” “sportsmanship,” and “historical and political clashes.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to express more specific ideas. However, spelling errors such as “significent,” “freindship,” and “instend,” along with inaccurate or unnatural combinations such as “display negative attitude” and “country pride,” reduce precision. Repetition of “emotional” and “arguments” also limits flexibility. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations in context; for example, describe events as “fostering goodwill” or “intensifying national rivalries” rather than relying on broad or awkward phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex forms, including a concessive opening with “While” and a conditional-style example beginning “when.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur in several places. For example, “some people argues” and “these events creates” do not match plural subjects, while “Players from different cultural and social background” needs plural agreement. “Sometimes, when any team looses. The supporters…” is an incomplete sentence, and the opening “While” clause is not smoothly connected to a complete main clause. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and combine dependent clauses with their main clauses. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
