Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, most of the people say that worldwide sports events, such as olympics or the football, due to this countries become together. While others think that these types of event increase competition between countries instead of friendship. I will discuss both viwes and give my opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why international sports event improve relations between countries. Firstly, team of people have opportunity to they can gain knowldege about other countires's culture and meet with different types of people. When people live with others players then they become friends. Some team members have favorite participants from other country they have chance to meet with them. For example, poeple have opportunity to meet with their favorite such as, Ronaldo football champion. In addition, participants have develop their motivation when they see other players of countries.

On the other hand, These types of events might create competition in countries. Sometimes the thoughts and behaviour are could not relatively. For example, a team of other country behave rudly it create the chance of become enemy. This means that may boost negativity among countries. Both teams are become competitor. Moreover, unfair means, it means most of the time some teams do unfair and they win. It not affect only team but also impact on countires' realtions.

In conclusion, although worldwide sports increase competition from player's behaviour and thoughts, these types of world cup boost realtions of countries. In my opinion, healthy competition can enhance the opportunity to bring countires together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear overall preference for the unifying potential of international sport, especially in the conclusion: “healthy competition can enhance the opportunity to bring countries together.” The discussion is relevant, but the ideas are only partly developed. The first body paragraph explains that players can meet and learn about other cultures, yet the Ronaldo example is not clearly connected to how this improves relations between countries. The opposing view is also introduced, but “behave rudly” and unfair play are asserted rather than explained with a specific consequence or example. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and make your position more explicit in the introduction as well as the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For instance, the sequence about meeting players, having favourite participants, and motivation does not consistently show how these points support stronger relations. In the second body paragraph, “This means that may boost negativity” has an unclear reference, while “Both teams are become competitor” repeats the competition idea without advancing it. Use clearer references and connect each example directly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “international sports events,” “competition,” “relations,” “participants,” and “unfair,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “countries become together,” “gain knowldege,” “rudly,” and “boost realtions.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “the thoughts and behaviour are could not relatively,” which does not communicate a clear meaning. Build a more accurate set of phrases for describing cultural exchange, rivalry, and diplomatic effects, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain your ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “types of events” and “countries.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the introduction and a conditional-style example beginning “When people live with other players.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “team of people have opportunity to they can gain” combines incompatible structures, while “Both teams are become competitor” has an incorrect verb form and number pattern. “It not affect only team” also lacks the auxiliary needed for a negative statement. Practise building accurate clauses before adding complexity, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms. Clearer sentence boundaries and punctuation would also make the argument easier to understand.
