Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear council,
I am writing to provide a feedback about a free concerts which was was organised by local council in my local park.
Yesterday, I attended a free concerts with local residence. However, It was a well-organised and memorable ocassion for me because It was a an excelent opportunity to spend a quality of time with family and friends. Furthermore, there were many talented singers who came here for making an outsanding.
Moreover, It was not only the free of cost but also more enjoyable for everyone. In addition, every local residence took a part in this event and enjoy the open-air concerts.Theerfore, It has become more entertaining event for local people.
I could be delighted if you could minor improvements for future events. They could insall additional lighting, better seating arrangements and ensure the public safety. One more suggestion is that advertise the event and additional parking space for its convenience. I hope the council will concider theses suggestion for future event.
Yours Sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main points by identifying a concert, explaining that you enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hearing talented singers, and suggesting lighting, seating, safety, advertising and parking improvements. These details make the response relevant to the council’s request. However, some points are not fully clear or developed: “Yesterday” does not specify which concert or its music style, and the reasons for enjoying the performances are only briefly stated. The suggestions are useful but would be stronger with a short explanation of how they would improve visitors’ experience. Also make the request for feedback explicit, for example, “I would be grateful if the council could consider these improvements.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening, paragraphs about the concert and its benefits, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing. The ideas are generally easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In addition” help connect points. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, “Moreover, It was not only the free of cost but also more enjoyable” does not clearly connect the concert’s free admission with the enjoyment described. Grouping the reasons for enjoyment together and then presenting the suggestions in a clearly ordered list would improve progression. Use fewer repeated linkers and ensure each pronoun, such as “It,” clearly refers to the concert or event.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “well-organised,” “memorable,” “talented singers,” “open-air concerts,” and “seating arrangements.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main message. However, errors in spelling, word forms and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “residence” should be “residents,” “for making an outstanding” is incomplete and unnatural, and “free of cost” is awkward in this context. There are also misspellings such as “ocassion,” “excelent,” “insall,” and “concider.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “a free concert,” “gave an outstanding performance,” and “additional parking spaces.” Proofreading these choices would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “because it was an excellent opportunity…” and “not only…but also…”. However, errors in sentence structure, articles, agreement, verb forms and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “a free concerts” has an article–plural mismatch, “local residence” does not agree with the intended plural meaning, and “I could be delighted if you could minor improvements” is missing a verb pattern needed to express the request. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “It” after a comma. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct singular or plural forms, and complete clauses. A careful final edit would improve accuracy and readability.
