Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Council,
I am writing to provide feedback about live concerts which was organised by local council in my local park.
Yesterday, I attended an open air live concerts in a local park. It was not only the amazing events but also was more memorable and enjoyable for local residents. In addition, I got an opportunity to spend quality of time with family and friends. Therefore, I felt more relax and peace during thsese event.
However, a significant amount of number singers who came here with soulful voice and performed an outstanding way. Besides that, It was free concerts and all residents took participate. As a result, It has become more memorable occasion for the past five years.
I would be delighted if you could make some changes for the upcoming events. Additionally, there is need of better seating arrangements and install additionall lighting for ensuring public safety. I hope you will make an attention on this improvements.
Yours Sincerely,
Jaspret Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover the main requested points: you identify an open-air concert, explain that you enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and suggest better seating and additional lighting. These ideas are relevant, but the response only partially fulfils the task because some details are unclear or insufficiently developed. For example, “Yesterday” does not clearly establish which concert or musical performance you attended, and the reason you enjoyed it is expressed generally rather than through a specific feature of the concert. The suggestion about lighting is linked to public safety, but the seating suggestion could also be explained. The statement that the event has been memorable “for the past five years” is confusing and unsupported. Develop each point with clear, relevant detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, paragraphs about the experience and suggestions, and a closing. Connectors such as “In addition,” “Therefore,” and “As a result” show an effort to link ideas. However, progression is not always clear: the paragraph beginning “However” does not present a clear contrast, and the connection between the singers, free entry, and the event’s history is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases feel mechanical or do not accurately express the relationship between ideas. Paragraphing could more clearly separate the concert attended, reasons for enjoyment, and recommendations. Use fewer, more precise transitions and make sure each paragraph develops one main purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “open air,” “soulful voice,” “seating arrangements,” and “public safety,” and the reader can generally understand your message. However, word choice and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning unclear. For instance, “a significant amount of number singers” is not a natural way to describe the performers, while “took participate” and “make an attention on this improvements” are also inaccurate expressions. There are spelling and word-form slips, including “thsese” and “additionall.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding elaborate wording: for example, describe the performers directly and say that residents “took part” or “attended.” Proofreading would help make your vocabulary more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including “It was not only … but also …” and a sentence beginning “I would be delighted if…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. In the opening, “concerts which was organised” has a plural–verb agreement problem; “It was free concerts” also has incorrect agreement and number. The sentence “I got an opportunity to spend quality of time” shows problems with article and noun phrasing, while “there is need of better seating arrangements and install…” does not maintain a grammatical parallel structure. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, too. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms, and complete sentence patterns before attempting longer constructions.
