Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to give a feedback about the concerts organised by your management and some suggestions for improvement of next summer's concerts.
On September 25th, I attended the folk music concerts which was held at Toronto Island and the timing was from 5 P.M to 11 P.M. In this concert, all the famous folk artists and musician showed up and played at their best albums.
I am fond of the folk music style. My favourite music artist such as renowned signer of Punjab Satinder sartaj who was the cheif guest of the concert. Fans of cultural and folk music gathered there to attend the concert. The arrangement of chairs and Lighting was remarkable. I not only enjoyed the music but also tried delectable traditional cusine that was at no cost for audience.
Since mostly people arrived their by their private transportation mode, therefore it was difficult to find a spot to park the vehicles. I would like to give a suggestion to improve parking area for next summer's concerts, so the difficulty to park the vahicles can be solved.
Thank you for organising free concerts for people and hope the measurable solutions can be taken to eliminate parking issue.
Yours faithfully,
Manveer Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the folk concert and its location and time, explain your enjoyment through the music, seating, lighting and free food, and suggest improving parking. These details make the letter relevant and give it a clear purpose. The enjoyment is supported with personal information, such as your interest in folk music and the appearance of Satinder Sartaj. However, the improvement point is much less developed than the positive feedback: you mention difficulty parking but do not explain what practical change the council could make, such as adding spaces or providing a shuttle service. The opening also says “a feedback,” which is not appropriate for this uncountable noun. More specific development of the suggestion would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, paragraphs describing the concert and your enjoyment, a paragraph on parking, and a suitable closing. The sequence is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Since” and “I would like to give a suggestion” help connect the problem to your recommendation. Some links are less effective or mechanical, however. “Since mostly people arrived there by their private transportation mode, therefore…” uses two causal markers together, and the relationship between the concert details and your personal enjoyment could be made more direct. The final paragraph repeats the parking concern without adding a concrete next step. Use simpler, more precise transitions and develop each paragraph around one clear point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the letter and attempt some less common vocabulary, including “renowned,” “delectable,” and “remarkable.” These choices help convey enthusiasm, and the reader can understand the main message. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “played at their best albums,” “private transportation mode,” and “measurable solutions.” There are also spelling errors, including “signer,” “cheif,” “cusine,” and “vahicles,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, artists perform their best-known songs, and the council could provide additional parking. More consistent control of common vocabulary would make your positive feedback and recommendation clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Since mostly people arrived…, therefore it was difficult…” and “I not only enjoyed the music but also tried…”. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “the folk music concerts which was held” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “all the famous folk artists and musician showed up” has inconsistent number. The sentence beginning “Since” also needs restructuring rather than using “therefore” as a second connector. There is some control of basic sentence patterns, but greater accuracy in these structures and more reliable punctuation would strengthen the letter.
