Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I attended one of the concert you arranged in family park near my house. In that concert the guest was a well known punjabi pop singer Ibrar Haq, one of my favourite singer since childhood.

I enjoyed that event alot not only becuase of the singer but also the way it was managed. Everything from sound system to sitting arrangement of guest was taken care of. The whole program was favourable for families to visit and enjoy. The energy transferred from the singer to people by his lovely songs was remarkable. Elderly as well as youngsters were enjoying equally without any discrimination. In short it was source of entertainment for everyone.

But I would like to make some suggestions for improving the festivals in upcoming summers. Schedule of all the events should be displayed before two weeks so that everyone could arrange a holiday for themselves to enjoy. Lastly the food stalls permit should also be given to satisfy the hunger after investing energy in dancing at concert.

I hope you will consider my opinion. Thankyou for arranging such concerts, I really appreciate your efforts.

Yours sincerely,

Ashley.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

You address all three points clearly: you identify the Punjabi singer Ibrar Haq, explain your enjoyment through the music, family-friendly atmosphere and event management, and offer two practical suggestions. The positive evaluation is supported with details such as the sound system and the enjoyment of both older and younger attendees. Your suggestions about publishing the schedule earlier and allowing food stalls are relevant, though the reasons for them are brief; for example, you could explain how advance notice helps residents plan around work or family commitments. The letter maintains a clear, appreciative purpose throughout. To strengthen the response further, develop each suggestion a little more and make the concert identification more precise by naming the event or date, if known.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: you identify the concert, describe what you enjoyed, present suggestions, and close politely. Paragraphing supports this structure, and linking expressions such as “not only…but also,” “In short,” and “Lastly” help guide the reader. The ideas within the enjoyment paragraph are generally connected, moving from organisation to atmosphere and audience. Some transitions feel slightly formulaic, however, and “But” at the start of the suggestions paragraph creates a stronger contrast than the content requires. The reference to “the festivals” also shifts from the concerts mentioned earlier without a clear explanation. Use more natural transitions and keep references consistent to make the flow smoother and more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a feedback letter, including relevant expressions such as “sound system,” “family-friendly” in meaning, “remarkable,” and “satisfy the hunger.” These choices communicate your positive response and suggestions clearly, and you attempt some less common phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “the guest was” for the performer, “energy transferred from the singer to people,” and “food stalls permit should also be given.” There are also spelling errors such as “alot,” “becuase,” and “Thankyou.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and polish. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast structure “not only…but also” and the clause “so that everyone could arrange a holiday.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the errors rarely obstruct meaning. Some grammatical inaccuracies are present, particularly with articles, plurals and agreement: “one of the concert” should be “one of the concerts,” and “one of my favourite singer” should be “one of my favourite singers.” The phrase “sitting arrangement of guest” also needs clearer article and plural forms, such as “seating arrangements for guests.” Review these patterns and check sentence punctuation; this will improve accuracy while preserving the range of structures you already attempt.
