make suggestions for improving next summer's concerts
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give my feedback about the concert held in the local park last summer. Thank you for organizing such events for the community.
Unfortunately, I could not attend all the concerts because of my work schedule but there is one I love so much. I attended the music concert held on the third day. It was so fun and I am happy to be there.
I really enjoyed the concert because I met many of my friends at the event. We sat and sang together which brought back old memories of us together.
Would you kindly extend the time of the concert instead of an hour, it could be held for two hours because some people complained that it was short. I recommend if you could allow shops within the park so we can access water and some snacks. I was so thirst that I could not get to buy water.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Lynda.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the music concert on the third day, explain that meeting and singing with friends brought back memories, and suggest extending the event and providing refreshments. The purpose and polite tone are clear. The explanation of enjoyment is relevant but brief, and the suggestions could be more fully developed—for example, clarify whether the council should arrange vendors or provide water stations, and explain how a longer programme would benefit attendees. The opening refers generally to concerts held last summer rather than clearly identifying the requested summer series, but the specific concert is named in the next paragraph. More detail and support for each idea would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening, a paragraph identifying the concert, an explanation of what you enjoyed, suggestions, and a polite closing. This makes the main points easy to locate. Connections such as “because” and “which brought back old memories” help show relationships between ideas. However, the suggestions are crowded into one sentence, and the shift from extending the concert to allowing shops would be clearer if each recommendation had its own sentence and supporting explanation. “Unfortunately” also introduces the attendance detail, although it does not strongly connect to the positive feedback that follows. More deliberate linking and paragraphing would make progression smoother and less dependent on straightforward transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main message, with relevant expressions such as “feedback,” “community,” “old memories,” and “extend the time.” However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural, which keeps the letter from sounding consistently fluent. For example, “It was so fun” and “I am happy to be there” are general, while “I was so thirst” uses the wrong word form and may briefly distract the reader. “Allow shops within the park” is understandable, but a more precise phrase could describe refreshments or vendors. Aim to use specific language for the concert atmosphere and practical improvements, and check word forms and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “I really enjoyed the concert because…” and the relative clause “which brought back old memories.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the letter’s basic sentence patterns are controlled. Some errors remain, however. In “there is one I love so much,” the present tense does not fit the past event; “there was one I loved” would be more consistent. “I am happy to be there” has a similar tense mismatch. The request beginning “Would you kindly extend…” is joined to the next clause with a comma, creating a run-on sentence. Separating the request and its reason would improve punctuation and clarity.
