Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to provide a feedback about the free concerts that were organised by the local council this summer in my society.
One of the concerts that I attended on 8th of October. It was performed by a one of the popular punjabi artists, Daljit Doshanj at Royal resort.
I enjoyed this event because Daljit is my favourite celebrity and I follow him on social media for the last five years. He is an excellent singer and performer and his performance was quite energetic. All the people were dancing and singing along with him. It was a wounderful experience.
I would like to suggest if the seating and standing arrangements could be expaned during next time. It would also be helpful to install some food stalls nearby place, so people can enjoy some refreshments while enjoying the performance.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope this feedback and suggestions will help to overcome some problem that were experienced by visitors in the recent concerts.
Yours faithfully,
Soni.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three requested points: you identify the concert and performer, explain your enjoyment through your admiration for Daljit and the audience’s participation, and suggest larger seating/standing areas and food stalls. These details make the response relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. The enjoyment is the most developed part, while the improvement suggestions would benefit from more explanation—for example, whether the venue lacked seats or queues for refreshments were a problem. The date and venue are stated, but the link between this event and the council’s park concerts is unclear because you name “Royal resort.” Clarifying that detail and extending the suggestions would make the response more complete and specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph identifying the concert, a paragraph explaining your enjoyment, suggestions, and a polite closing. This progression helps the council follow your feedback, and connectors such as “because,” “and,” and “so” show relationships between ideas. Some links are less smooth or precise, however. The concert-identification paragraph begins with a sentence fragment, and “during next time” does not clearly connect the suggestion to next summer. The closing refers generally to “some problem” without specifying which problems, so the reference is vague. Use complete sentences and clearer transitions, and make references in the final paragraph point directly to the issues you have described.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “energetic,” “performance,” “seating and standing arrangements,” and “refreshments.” These choices suit a letter about a public concert, and the reader can understand your overall message. However, several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors limit precision: “wounderful,” “expaned,” “provide a feedback,” and “nearby place” are not natural or accurate forms. “Favourite celebrity” is understandable but less precise than describing him as a favourite singer or performer. Aim to check spelling and choose common collocations carefully; a slightly more varied range of precise terms for facilities and audience comfort would also strengthen the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and some attempts to connect ideas, such as “I enjoyed this event because…” and the suggestion beginning “It would also be helpful…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but several grammatical errors are noticeable. “One of the concerts that I attended on 8th of October” is a fragment and needs a main verb, while “It was performed by a one of…” contains an incorrect article construction. There are also issues with articles and agreement in “some problem that were experienced,” and the time expression “I follow him…for the last five years” needs a more suitable tense. Practise complete sentence structures, article use, and present-perfect forms to improve accuracy while retaining your clear meaning.
