Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am expressing my reviews of the free local concerts which I recently attended in my local park.

I attended live Singing concerts where I extremely enjoyed the live show of Daljit Dosanjh.Firstly, Daljit delivered a motivational speech which was really impressive and I learnt a lot from that speech. Then, I enjoyed all of the cultural songs. The music was so good and perfect beat.

I would be appreciated it if you could change some facilities in upcoming summer's concert such as sitting area. Some audience had to stand in whole concert. So, please arrange some extra chairs. It would also be grateful if you will provide some snacks and water bottles. Due to this convenience , audience can more enjoy .

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours Sincerely,

Rajvir Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the concert as Daljit Dosanjh’s live singing performance, explain that you enjoyed his motivational speech and cultural songs, and suggest more chairs, snacks, and water. These are relevant details, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, you say the speech was impressive and that you learnt a lot, but do not explain what made it meaningful; the suggestions could also include a practical detail, such as placing chairs in additional areas. The response is 15 words below the required minimum, so it has less space to develop its feedback. Add a little more explanation while keeping the letter focused on the council’s request.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your feedback, describe the concert, and then make suggestions before closing politely. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Then” help show the order of your comments, and the main points are easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the links between ideas can feel mechanical, and the concert description moves quickly from the speech to the songs. The suggestion paragraph would be clearer if each recommendation had its own supporting reason. Use paragraphing consistently and connect ideas with more varied, natural transitions rather than relying mainly on simple sequencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main feedback, including relevant terms such as “motivational speech,” “cultural songs,” “audience,” and “facilities.” There is also an attempt to express positive evaluation through words such as “impressive.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “expressing my reviews,” “live Singing concerts,” “perfect beat,” and “Due to this convenience.” These choices make parts of the letter less fluent, although the intended meaning is generally understandable. Aim for more natural phrases suited to a formal letter, and check word forms and collocations. More precise language for describing the performance and explaining the practical benefits of your suggestions would strengthen the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, for example, “Firstly, Daljit delivered a motivational speech which was really impressive and I learnt a lot from that speech.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. In “I would be appreciated it,” the conditional structure is incorrect; write “I would appreciate it.” “If you will provide” should use “if you could provide,” and “audience can more enjoy” needs a different sentence structure, such as “the audience could enjoy the concerts more.” There are also punctuation and spacing issues, including the missing space after “Dosanjh.” Practise accurate conditional requests and sentence patterns while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
