Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Madam,
I am writing to inform you about my experience of the Cooldplay concert that happend on 29 july 2026.
I attended the coldplay concert which was organised by your council in month of july. It was one of the best concert that ever happend in our city. It was different from the other free concerts due to the presence of large number of individuals.
I personally enjoyed the decorations and sound quality of speakers at concert. It made that day unfogetable for me because i never attended such a large concert before. Moreover, food at the local concert shops were also very delicious.
Although overall it was a well managed event, I would be grateful if you could provide the free bus service next year due to the limited parking space. It will help to manage traffic congestion and also environmental friendly choice for transportation.
Please let me know if you require any further information.
Your Sincerely
Lovepreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the Coldplay concert, explain that you enjoyed the decorations, sound quality and food, and suggest a free bus service to ease parking and congestion. The positive evaluation is clear, and the transport proposal is relevant and gives a reason for the change. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, “large number of individuals” does not explain what made the crowd or atmosphere enjoyable, and the improvement section offers only one suggestion without much detail about how the service could work. To strengthen the letter, add a specific example of what made the performance memorable and develop the proposal, perhaps by suggesting routes or timings. The response covers the task, but not all points are equally extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the purpose, describes the concert, explains what you enjoyed, and then makes a suggestion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, while connectors such as “Moreover” and “Although” show relationships between ideas. The progression is generally easy to follow. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the repeated reference to the concert in the first two paragraphs makes the opening feel less efficient. The connection between limited parking and the proposed bus service is understandable, but the final sentence about environmental benefits could be linked more smoothly to the main suggestion. Use a wider range of natural transitions and clearer references to avoid repetition and make the reasoning flow more seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use adequate vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “sound quality,” “parking space,” and “traffic congestion.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “unforgettable” and “well managed.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “large number of individuals” is less natural than “large crowd,” and “environmental friendly choice” needs a more idiomatic expression. Spelling errors such as “happend,” “unfogetable,” and “Cooldplay” also reduce accuracy, while inconsistent capitalisation affects the presentation of names and months. Aim for precise, natural phrases and proofread spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more flexible and appropriate for a formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the conditional request “I would be grateful if you could provide…” and the concession introduced by “Although.” Meaning remains clear despite some grammatical errors. Examples include “in month of july,” which needs an article and a capital letter, “one of the best concert,” where the noun should be plural, and “food … were,” where the verb does not agree with the uncountable subject. “It made that day unforgettable for me” also has an unclear grammatical reference. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, plurals and punctuation, and check that pronouns clearly refer to the intended idea. More consistently accurate sentences would improve control.
