Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope this message finds you well. I am Himani and I am a resident of Sunbridge counsil society. We are grateful of having a creative local counsil and this summer the free concerts in our local park had an amazing impression on the community. Moreover, you have included all types of activities in these concerts which can be participated by all members desipte of different age groups.

I attended a cooking concert and I had an amazing experience througout the concert because I was able to try new delicious dishes free of cost which was made by the participants. I enjoyed a lot because I am a foodie and I love to try new food items. All of the activities during our concert week were perfectly organised, however I would like to mention few points which can be improuve for future summer's concerts.

First, it would be beneficial if the counsil can consider an advance safety measurements specifically for the cooking concert to prevent any kind of accident. Another is seating arrangements according to height measurements of the audiance, it will be more convenient for short people to enjoy the concert. Otherwise, everything else was spectacular.

I hope you like my suggetions and consider it for upcoming concerts.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Himani.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requirements: you identify the cooking concert, explain that you enjoyed trying dishes made by participants, and offer suggestions about safety and seating. Your positive response to the event is clear, and the suggestions are relevant to next summer’s programme. The reasons for enjoyment are supported by personal details, especially “I am a foodie,” although the feedback about the concert’s wider appeal is more general. The safety suggestion could be more useful if you named a practical measure, such as keeping cooking equipment away from audience areas. Likewise, explain how seating could be arranged to help shorter attendees. Developing these points with specific examples would make the feedback more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: an opening response to the concerts, a paragraph about the event you attended, suggestions for improvement, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the different purposes, and signposts such as “First” and “Another” make the suggestions easy to locate. Some linking is less precise: “Moreover” introduces a broad point about activities, while “however” connects the enjoyment of the concert to suggestions in a slightly abrupt way. The phrase “our concert week” is also not clearly established earlier. Use transitions that show the exact relationship between ideas, and make references explicit—for example, specify whether you mean the cooking concert or the whole series.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate your experience and suggestions, including “delicious dishes,” “safety measurements,” and “seating arrangements.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “beneficial” and “consider.” However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural collocations limit the accuracy and flexibility of your word choice: “counsil,” “desipte,” “througout,” and “improuve” should be corrected, while “advance safety measurements” is not the natural phrase for this context. “Cooking concert” may also be unclear to a reader; name the event more precisely if it was a cooking demonstration or food event. Check spelling and choose collocations that express your meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the clause beginning “because I was able to try…” and the conditional suggestion “it would be beneficial if…”. Meaning remains clear overall, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I am grateful of having” needs a different preposition and construction, and “which was made by the participants” does not agree with the plural “dishes.” In “if the council can consider,” the modal form is less suitable after “it would be beneficial if”; use “could consider.” There are also missing articles in phrases such as “mention few points” and “advance safety measurements.” Review agreement, articles, and conditional structures to improve accuracy while retaining your sentence variety.
