Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing a letter for concert feedback which I recently attended in our local park. Although there are a lot of concerts over there every day, I attended a singing concert by Diljit Singh on Tuesday.
Moreover, I would like to say first thank you for these all concerts series which were aboustly free for all local residents. I would also like to mention that I really enjoyed that concert owing to this I was enjoyed live music firest time one of favourite singer, this was really good experience for me. I also liked the lighting system and decoration during the concert which enhance the beauty of the live concert.
Furthermore, even though I really like it the funtion, I would also give some suggestions for next summer's concerts. Firstly, the proper seating arragements such as chairs and benches for audience instead of standing all the time, it is really problematic for people. Apart from this, more restrooms so that people do not feel inconvenience. This year, I saw many people faced problems due to lack of washrooms and chairs.
I hope you understand my concern about it. This is my feedback for this year concerts.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Sandy K

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the concert as Diljit Singh’s on Tuesday, explain that hearing a favourite singer live and seeing the lighting made it enjoyable, and suggest seating and more restrooms. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The enjoyment explanation is less fully developed than the suggestions: “I was enjoyed live music firest time” does not clearly express what made the experience special, and the seating and restroom requests could be supported with a little more detail about who was affected. The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal letter, although the salutation differs from the one specified. To strengthen the response, explain the concert experience more clearly and develop each suggestion with a practical reason or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the concert, gives feedback on the experience, then presents suggestions before closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these functions, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “Apart from this” make the recommendations easy to follow. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “Moreover” does not establish a clear relationship with the preceding paragraph, while “owing to this” creates a confusing connection between enjoying the concert and hearing live music. The final paragraph repeats that this is feedback without adding much. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each idea directly—for example, explain the enjoyment first, then give the lighting as a separate supporting detail.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “live music,” “lighting system,” “decoration,” “seating arrangements,” and “restrooms.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “local residents” and “lack of washrooms.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “aboustly,” “firest,” “funtion,” and “arragements” are difficult to read, and phrases such as “these all concerts series” and “I really like it the funtion” are not natural English. Some repetition of “concert” and “concerts” also limits flexibility. Proofread spelling and learn common collocations such as “concert series,” “attend a concert,” and “provide additional seating” to make the message clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although,” “which,” and “so that.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate. For example, “I was enjoyed live music” should be “I enjoyed the live music,” and “which enhance the beauty” needs a verb form that agrees with the past-time context, such as “which enhanced the atmosphere.” The suggestion “Firstly, the proper seating arrangements … instead of standing all the time” is a sentence fragment; make it a complete request, such as “Firstly, please provide proper seating arrangements.” Review articles, agreement, and complete sentence structure, while continuing to practise complex clauses.
