Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir/madam
I am writting to give you a feed back on the just concluded summer concert.I am one of the people that attended the concert. The concert was indeed a grate one and I will like to make some suggestions to help elivate and make the up coming concerts better.
I was privileged to be in the attendance of the most rescent easter children's concert which was held at polo park.
The various activities planned for the day, for both children and adults made the event a memorial one, from the kiddies dance with the easter Bonnie, chair dance games and spelling competition made it a total fun for the kids. Adults were not left out too, we danced shared gifts and helped the children play dress up.
However, some improvements is needed in the part of providing more food, drinks and water. This event is growing and a lot of people are becoming awear of the concer by the year, I feel their should be an increment made in the quantity of edibles being made available for this event, especially water.
I hope my suggestion is considered for the next summer concert.
Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the Easter children’s concert at Polo Park, explain that activities such as dancing, games and dress-up made it enjoyable, and recommend providing more food, drinks and especially water. The feedback is relevant and your purpose is clear. The enjoyment is supported with several specific examples, while the improvement suggestion is less fully developed: explain, for instance, how shortages affected attendees or how the council could estimate supplies. The concert is described as a summer event, but calling it an “Easter” concert leaves some uncertainty about which concert you attended. To strengthen the letter further, make that identification precise and extend the practical suggestion with a little more detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening stating your purpose, a paragraph identifying and describing the concert, a paragraph giving a recommendation, and an appropriate closing. This makes the main points easy to locate. You also use transitions such as “However” and “I hope” to signal a change from praise to suggestion and then to the closing. Some links are less smooth, however. The opening repeats that you attended the concert, and the long sentence beginning “The various activities planned for the day” runs several examples together without clear punctuation or structure. Grouping the activities into shorter sentences and using clearer links between the examples would make the progression more fluent and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “activities,” “spelling competition,” “gifts,” and “quantity,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the message less clear: “writting,” “feed back,” “grate,” “elivate,” “rescent,” “memorial,” and “awear” appear in the letter. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “in the attendance of” and “a total fun.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, say “attended” rather than “was in the attendance of.” A more precise range for describing the event and its practical needs would help you communicate with greater ease.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the sentence describing activities for children and adults, and your meaning is usually recoverable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “some improvements is needed” should be “some improvements are needed,” while “their should be an increment” needs “there should be an increase.” The activities sentence beginning “The various activities planned for the day” is not a complete, well-controlled structure because its list is not clearly connected to the main clause. Review sentence boundaries and agreement, and practise combining examples into complete sentences. More consistent control of these patterns would make the letter clearer and more polished.
