Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir,

Good morning, how are you?

I really like your efforts to arrange series of free concerts in our park and it is the best decision for those who cannot affordto attend it. Well, I really enjoy attending concerts as this give me opportunity to see my favourite singers closely and enjoy their singing.

Lately, I was busy with my office work and didnot get the chance to attend the concert but I cannot skip the concert that was on last sunday as my favourite singer "Salena Gomez " was there on that night for concert and I like her so much that I went on that concert. The concert was great fun as the setting of the stage was very good with full of light on the stage and the sound system was epic. There was sitting arrangement as well which is one of the best feature.

Overall the concert is complete success but there are some main point that need improvement as near the concert there are some local vendor with their food truck and selling food near the concert in the park due to which the most of the park area is covered and many people who are interested to join; lost the chance to join and another thing there is lack of dustbin in the park as there is lot of litter can be seen in the park because there is no garabage bin inside the park.

Hope you got the right feedback!

Yours truly

Lovepreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the concert featuring Selena Gomez, explain that you enjoyed the stage lighting, sound system and seating, and suggest managing food vendors and adding bins. These details make the letter relevant and give the council usable feedback. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, you say vendors take up much of the park and prevent people from attending, but do not specify how the council could manage their location or space. The opening also spends time on your general enthusiasm for concerts before reaching the event you attended. Develop the practical suggestions more clearly and keep the focus on the requested feedback to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable progression from general comments, to the concert experience, to suggestions for improvement, and the closing makes it clear that the letter is ending. The main points are generally understandable. However, the first paragraph delays the specific event, and the long final paragraph combines two separate problems—food vendors and litter—making the suggestions harder to follow. Some links, such as “Overall” and “another thing,” are basic, while the semicolon in “join; lost the chance” interrupts the connection between ideas. Use separate paragraphs for the concert experience and each improvement, and connect each suggestion directly to its reason. This would create clearer progression and less mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “sound system,” “sitting arrangement,” “food truck” and “litter.” There are also attempts at expressive language, such as “great fun” and “epic,” though the latter is informal for a letter to the council. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “arrange series,” “attend it,” “setting of the stage” and “complete success” do not sound natural in context. Spelling and spacing problems, including “didnot,” “garabage” and “affordto,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “organise a series,” “stage design” and “a successful event,” and check spelling and register before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “as” and a longer sentence describing the vendors’ effect on park visitors. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in tense, agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “I really enjoy attending concerts as this give me opportunity” shifts from the past event to a general statement and has agreement and article problems; “I really enjoy” also does not match the past-tense account that follows. In “there are some main point that need improvement,” the noun and verb forms do not agree. Break up the longest sentences and check tense consistency, subject–verb agreement and articles to improve control.
