Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to give my feedback about the free concerts that you organised in local park this summer. I really happly to share my experience

I also attend one of the concert with my family and friends in the local park which was held on 12th october, 2026 and that was a classical music concert which was presented by local musicians. There are 12 members in a group who presented the classical music.

First of all I was really impressed by their coustumes that they wore at the time of performance. I am very keen to classical music and the guys kill it. This performance was beyond above my expectations. The vocals, their coodination, expression and their voices all on point. The food was also quite good .

I want to my suggestions on some particular things that you should avoid in your next summar concerts and make it more enjoyable. Firstly, the sitting arrangements their were no enough seats for elderly people most of them was standing you should imstall more seats for them and marks the seats for elderly people. Secondely expand varieties in food aad install more food stalls so avoid people to stand for long in a queue.

Thankyou for arranging such a great councerts and I am very exited for next upcoming summer concerts.

Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the classical music concert on 12 October, explain that you enjoyed the musicians’ performance and costumes, and suggest more reserved seating for older people and additional food stalls. These details make the letter relevant and give the council usable feedback. The enjoyment is supported by several specific reactions, although phrases such as “the guys kill it” are informal for a letter to the council, and the food suggestion is less fully explained than the seating issue. To strengthen the response, develop each suggestion with a brief reason or practical detail, and maintain a consistently appropriate tone. The main task is covered, but some ideas are more fully developed than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “Firstly” help signal the progression, and the reader can follow the main points. However, some links are mechanical, and the suggestions paragraph becomes difficult to follow where ideas run together: “the sitting arrangements their were no enough seats…” and “so avoid people to stand…” Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would improve cohesion. Separate each suggestion into a complete sentence and use linking phrases that show cause and result, such as explaining that extra stalls would reduce queues.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss the concert and offer practical feedback, including “classical music,” “coordination,” “elderly people,” “seats,” and “food stalls.” There are also attempts at expressive language, such as “beyond above my expectations,” but this phrase is inaccurate, while “the guys kill it” is too informal for a council letter. Noticeable spelling and word-choice errors—including “happly,” “coustumes,” “summar,” and “exited”—reduce precision and polish. Aim for accurate, appropriately formal collocations rather than conversational expressions, and proofread spelling. A more controlled range of phrases for describing performance and proposing improvements would make the message clearer and more suitable for its audience.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “I also attend one of the concert” needs a past-tense verb and a plural form, while “There are 12 members in a group who presented” shifts awkwardly between present and past. The suggestion “I want to my suggestions” is also structurally incomplete, and several clauses are joined without clear punctuation. Practise forming accurate past-tense sentences and complete clauses before adding detail. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make the ideas easier to read.
