Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well and I am feeling glad to tell you about my feedback about the concert which I attended this summer.
First of all, I want to inform you that this summer, I attended a music concert from your series of concerts. Moreover, this one outdoor event is really impressing and fabulous.
Furthermore, I also want to express my feelings after attending this music performance. I felt very happy and enjoyed a lot because it was performed by my favorite musician Atif Aslam. Additionally, the instruments for music such as mike and sound system were also worked well and arranged well by your organization team.
Last but not least, I also want to give some suggestions like the seating arrangements were not well arranged. In addition to this, the behavior of some staff members were also not cooperative.
I hope you will value my feedback and would make improvements for next concerts in next summer.
Kind Regards,
Nosheen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the event as a music concert, explain that you enjoyed Atif Aslam’s performance and the sound arrangements, and suggest improvements to seating and staff conduct. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. However, some points are not fully developed: you do not name a particular concert or describe what made the performance especially enjoyable, and the suggestions would be more useful with specific solutions, such as adding seats or providing staff training. The purpose and generally positive tone are clear, with some development of the requested ideas, but fuller supporting detail would make the feedback more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs about the event and your enjoyment, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing. This helps the council follow your feedback. You also use linking expressions such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “Last but not least.” At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical or repetitive, and some sentences repeat the intention to give feedback rather than advancing the message. The connection between the concert’s sound arrangements and your enjoyment could also be made more explicit. To strengthen progression, use fewer formulaic signposts and organise each paragraph around one clear point, linking details directly to your evaluation or recommendation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for communicating the main points, including “music performance,” “favorite musician,” “seating arrangements,” and “staff members.” The reader can understand your experience and suggestions. However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “feedback about the concert,” “really impressing,” and “enjoyed a lot.” There is also repetition of “concert” and “arranged,” which limits flexibility. Some phrases, including “instruments for music such as mike and sound system,” do not describe the equipment accurately: a microphone and sound system are equipment, not instruments. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms, for example, “the sound system worked well” and “the seating was poorly organised.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including clauses with “because” and “which,” and your meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, but they rarely prevent understanding. For example, “the instruments … were also worked well” incorrectly combines “were” with the past-tense verb; write “the sound system also worked well.” In “the behavior of some staff members were,” the singular subject “behavior” requires “was.” The opening sentence also joins two independent ideas awkwardly with “and,” while “I hope you … would make improvements” mixes verb forms. Practise subject–verb agreement and consistent verb patterns, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas.
