Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to give you the feedback about free concerts organised by the local council this summer. I attended the classical music last week local park near my home.

I really enjoed the concert the singers were amazing and it was great exprience. enery kind of age group of people where their. it was family frendly envorinment. I really enjoy the part when the singer start singing few of my favourite songs, overall it was a great exprince. there were also few food stals so people were enjoying food with music. And because of free concert every kind of people were allowed to attend that event.

I really wish if there were few more chairs then it will more comeftable envorinment. Due to summers and heat you should provide fans or ac, also if varity of few more famous artists were there and few local the it will be a great exprience. so it will look bit more organised.

i want to thankyou for organiseing such great events. i hope it will improve next year.

Your faithfully

Rasab

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the classical music concert, explain that you enjoyed the singers, familiar songs, family-friendly atmosphere and food stalls, and suggest more chairs, cooling facilities and a wider choice of performers. These details make the letter relevant and give the council useful feedback. However, some ideas are less fully explained than others. For example, you mention that more famous and local artists would improve the event, but do not say what variety or balance you would like. The concert identification could also be more precise than “last week” and “classical music.” A clearer explanation of how the suggestions would improve visitors’ experience would develop the response further. The closing thanks the council appropriately, though the tone could be more consistently formal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing. This helps the reader follow the main stages of your feedback. Some linking is effective, such as “also” when adding the food stalls and “Due to” when introducing the heat-related suggestion. However, connections between ideas are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The long section about enjoying the concert combines several points with full stops and “And,” while the suggestions move quickly from chairs to cooling and performers. Use clearer topic sentences and separate related points into shorter sentences. Check references such as “it” in “so it will look bit more organised,” which does not clearly identify what should be organised.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main feedback, including relevant terms such as “family friendly,” “food stalls,” “famous artists” and “local.” There is some attempt to describe the atmosphere and experience, but the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the letter less clear or polished. Examples include “enjoed,” “exprience,” “enery,” “stals” and “comeftable.” Phrases such as “every kind of age group of people” and “more comeftable envorinment” are also unnatural. Aim to learn accurate collocations for describing events and facilities, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you express your suggestions without relying repeatedly on “great” and “few.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “Due to summers and heat you should provide fans or ac,” so there is some variety. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “I attended the classical music last week local park” is missing necessary sentence structure and articles, while “the singer start singing” has an incorrect verb form. In “I really enjoy the part,” the tense does not match the past event. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and capitalization, particularly where several ideas run together or begin with lowercase letters. Practise past-tense forms and build complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs; then check articles, agreement and punctuation.
