Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writitng this letter to give my honest feedback about performance which was done by 3 young boys in our local park, organised by you.

I attened the concert of the 3 boys who sang english songs during their performance on last wednesday at evening.

I enjoyed that concert a lot because the songs they selected were of my taste. Almost every song they performed were in the playlist of my song's application. Moreover the vibe during that event was very joyful as all the viwers were of similiar to my age, so it helped me a lot to vibe match with them.

One suggestion i would like to give is to have performances during evenings as in day time the weather gets quite hot and people may not enjoy up to the mark so, organizning performances after 6am will be the best.

Thankyou

your sincerly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three requested points: you identify the concert as a performance by three young singers, explain that you liked their song choices and the cheerful atmosphere, and suggest holding events in the evening. These details make the letter relevant and your positive response is clear. However, some ideas are only partly developed: the concert is not identified by a specific name or musical style, and the improvement suggestion focuses mainly on timing rather than offering broader practical changes. The phrase “after 6am” also conflicts with your point about avoiding daytime heat, so the council may not understand the intended timing. Clarify that you mean after 6 p.m. and add one specific improvement, such as seating or refreshments, to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you introduce your purpose, describe the concert and your enjoyment, then give a suggestion before signing off. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “because” show how your ideas relate. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. For example, “so it helped me a lot to vibe match with them” does not explain the link between the audience’s age and your enjoyment very precisely. The final suggestion also combines several points in one long sentence, making the intended recommendation harder to follow. Use clearer references and divide that sentence into shorter units so the progression remains easy to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main message, including “performance,” “playlist,” “joyful,” and “organised.” There are also attempts at informal, expressive wording, such as “vibe” and “vibe match,” but these are not well suited to a formal letter to the council and the latter phrase is unclear. Several spelling errors—“writitng,” “attened,” “viwers,” “similiar,” and “organizning”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some phrases are also unnatural, including “songs of my taste” and “up to the mark.” Aim for precise, conventional wording appropriate to a public authority, and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example the sentence beginning “I enjoyed that concert a lot because…” and the clause introduced by “as.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. In “Almost every song they performed were,” the singular subject “every song” requires “was.” The phrase “all the viewers were of similar to my age” has an incorrect construction; write “the viewers were a similar age to me.” In the final sentence, “as in day time the weather gets…” needs a clearer clause structure, and “after 6am will be the best” needs a complete, accurate recommendation. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
