Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to explain about a concert which I attended last week. Its about healthcare concert. The experts taught about different exercises to remain physically fit and fine. It is a very interesting topic. I enjoyed very much because I learn many useful tips to follow healthy diet. The experts explained evrything clearly and also give some practical examples. There are many children who attended this concerts.

However, I would like to suggest some improvements for the next summer. I would like to request a local council to organise more experts and healthy lifestyle sessions. Due to this, many people get knowledge how they could improve their lifestyle. Moreover, the council should also organise chairs and refreshments for children and older people. They may face difficulty during concerts. Thank you for organising these free concerts.I hope you will consider my suggestions for next summer.

Yours faithfully,

Arshdeep Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the event as a healthcare concert, explain that you enjoyed learning about exercise and healthy eating, and suggest more sessions, seating and refreshments. The reasons for enjoyment are relevant, especially the experts’ clear explanations and practical examples. However, the concert description is somewhat unclear: “Its about healthcare concert” does not explain whether this was a talk, demonstration or musical performance, and the suggestion to organise “more experts” could be made more specific. The benefits of chairs and refreshments are briefly stated rather than fully explained. Developing these details and making the event description clearer would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it first describes the concert and your reaction, then moves to suggestions, and closes politely. The transition “However” signals the change in focus, while “Moreover” adds another recommendation. This gives the reader a generally logical progression. Some connections are less smooth or precise, though. For example, “There are many children who attended this concerts” feels detached from the explanation of why you enjoyed the event, and “Due to this” does not clearly identify which suggestion it refers to. Separate the feedback and recommendations into clearly focused paragraphs, and use more precise links between each suggestion and its expected benefit to strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic and recommendations, including “physically fit,” “healthy diet,” “practical examples,” and “healthy lifestyle sessions.” These phrases show some range beyond very basic wording. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “explain about a concert,” “healthcare concert,” and “organise chairs”; these make parts of the message less clear. There are also spelling errors, including “evrything,” and some repetition of “organise” and “concert.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms—for example, describe the event as a health and fitness session, and say the council should provide seating. Proofreading spelling would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, such as “I enjoyed very much because…” and “Moreover, the council should also organise chairs and refreshments for children and older people.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include the missing space and sentence boundary in “last week. Its,” the incomplete construction “Its about healthcare concert,” and tense inconsistency in “I learn” and “give” after describing a past event. There are also errors in articles and number, as in “a local council” and “this concerts.” Use past-tense forms consistently when recounting the concert, check singular and plural agreement, and punctuate sentence boundaries carefully.
