Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing formally to reply to your letter regarding the feedback on the free concerts which took place at a local park in my area.
I attended the 'AA' singing concert on 3rd Ocbober, 2026, in which Atif Aslam and Asim Azhar performed. Both of them are my top favorite artists.
I enjoyed the concert very much and sang along the singers as they were performing the songs from their latest album. The park selected for the concert was an incredible choice as it is quite spacious and accumulated almost 1200 people including children. The management was calm and helpful and one of the team member assisted my grandmother to the chairs area, which was specifically assigned for the senior citizens. Young kids were so delighted with the numerous number of popcorn counters and free water dispensers. Overall it was win-win situation for every age group.
There are a few things that I would like you to consider in the next years concert. The event started 40 minutes late which affected all the attendees. Moreover, only a few dustbins were planted due to which there was litter all over the floor. Toilets issue stands unattended as there was not any toilet available. Kindly try to make these ammendments as would be qiote beneficial for everyone.
Yours faithfully,
KIsa.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three points clearly: you identify the concert and performers, explain your enjoyment through the music, spacious venue and helpful staff, and suggest improvements concerning punctuality, bins and toilets. The grandmother’s assistance and facilities for children add relevant supporting detail, so the feedback feels personal rather than generic. Your suggestions are practical and linked to problems you experienced. To make the response more fully developed, explain the impact of the late start or lack of toilets in a little more detail, and clarify how the council could address these issues. The opening says you are replying to a letter, although the task only says the council requested feedback; a more direct opening would fit the situation more precisely. Overall, the purpose and all task requirements are handled effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: purpose, concert details, positive feedback, then suggestions for next summer. Paragraphing supports this structure, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Overall” help readers follow the shift between points. The examples within the enjoyment paragraph are generally ordered sensibly, moving from the performance to the venue and audience facilities. Some connections are less smooth: “Overall it was win-win situation” is an abrupt summary, and the final suggestions are compressed into a long sequence. The repeated use of “which” also makes some relationships less direct. Separate the improvement points more clearly and use precise references to connect each problem with its proposed solution; this would make the progression more consistently effortless.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the letter and attempt some less common expressions, including “spacious,” “assigned for the senior citizens,” and “attendees.” These choices help convey the setting and the audience. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “sang along the singers,” “accumulated almost 1200 people,” “dustbins were planted,” and “Toilets issue stands unattended.” There are also spelling errors in “Ocbober,” “ammendments,” and “qiote,” which reduce the overall accuracy. Prefer natural combinations such as “sang along with the performers,” “attracted around 1,200 people,” and “bins were provided.” Your meaning remains understandable, but more reliable collocation and spelling would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “the park selected for the concert … as it is quite spacious” and the clause explaining how a team member helped your grandmother. Most ideas remain clear, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “sang along the singers” (the pattern requires “along with”), “one of the team member” (plural after “one of”), and “it was win-win situation” (a missing article). The sentence beginning “The event started 40 minutes late” also joins several concerns without clear grammatical separation. Check articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, and use a wider range of accurately controlled structures. Your attempts at complex sentences are evident, but consistent accuracy is not yet maintained throughout.
