Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to give you few feedbacks regarding conecrts which held last week held in the City Park.

I must say this year we had a lot of option to choose from but I have choosen musical concert held in The City Hall. The sound and atmosphere was much better then last year.

I like musical conecrt alot specially after busy workweek. Apart from that, I love to see people of all ages get together at one place enjoying variety of games and concerts.

I have some suggestion for next year if you would like to implement them. The queue to get tickets was longer then expected because of not having online tickets so, I would say next season please include option to purchase tickets from web.I hope you implement my suggestion next year.

I must say we really enjoyed this year concert. Thank you for organising it every year.

Kind regards,

Jenish

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the musical concert, explain that you enjoyed its sound and atmosphere and the chance to relax after work, and suggest online ticket sales. These are relevant responses, and the appreciative closing suits a letter to the council. However, some points are not fully clear or developed. The task asks which concert you attended, but the letter says it was held in “The City Hall,” which conflicts with the stated park setting and leaves the event’s identity uncertain. Your reasons for enjoying it are also brief, and the suggestion focuses only on ticket queues. Add a specific detail about the performance and explain how online booking would improve access.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, paragraphs about the concert and your enjoyment, a suggestion, and a polite closing. This makes the main message easy to follow. You also use basic links such as “Apart from that” and “because of,” although some connections feel mechanical, and the transition from the concert’s atmosphere to people enjoying games is not fully explained. The sentence beginning “The queue to get tickets” contains several ideas joined together, making the suggestion less clear. Separate the problem from the proposed solution, and use paragraphing to give each task point a distinct focus. This would make the progression smoother and references clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant terms such as “atmosphere,” “queue,” and “purchase tickets.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “conecrts,” “choosen,” “musical conecrt,” and “a lot of option.” Some phrases are also vague, such as “variety of games and concerts,” which does not explain what made the event enjoyable. Aim for accurate, natural expressions and more specific vocabulary about the performance and organisation. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make the letter more polished without changing its friendly tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, including “I like musical concert… specially after busy workweek” and the sentence explaining why the ticket queue was long. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “give you few feedbacks” needs an appropriate determiner and an uncountable noun, while “which held last week held” has a faulty relative clause and repetition. There are also tense and article problems in “I have choosen” and “this year concert.” The long sentence about tickets would be clearer as two sentences. Practise accurate articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries while retaining some complex structures.
