Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to give you feedback about your concert.

I recently attended your concert with my friends and cousins. It was the concert of famous Pakistani singer known as "Atif Aslam." It happened for the very first time in our country. The crowd was immense. People were so excited to see the singer on the stage. We enjoyed the concert because of many reasons including food stalls, free gifts and the chance to meet and take pictures with the singer. There were different kinds of food as well and the quality of food was just beyond words. The price was very low as compared to others.

The price of the tickets was a bit expensive which was difficult for some people to afford and attend the concert. I would really suggest that you try to reduce the price of the tickets so people can enjoy freely without worrying about the expenses. The air conditioner was not working properly so try to work on that too for the next year.

I hope that you would like my feedback.

Regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the Atif Aslam concert, explain that you enjoyed the food stalls, gifts and opportunity to meet the singer, and suggest lowering ticket prices and fixing the air conditioning. These are relevant details, and the purpose of giving feedback is clear. However, some points are more fully covered than others. The reasons for enjoying the event are listed, but the response could explain more specifically how they improved your experience. The suggestions would also be stronger if you clarified who was affected by the ticket cost or described the air-conditioning problem in more detail. Developing these ideas further would make the feedback more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph describing the concert, a paragraph giving suggestions, and a polite closing. This makes the main message easy to follow. The progression from positive feedback to areas for improvement is logical. Some connections between ideas are mechanical, however, particularly the repeated use of “and” in the list of reasons and the shift from food quality and prices to ticket costs. The reference in “The price was very low” could also be clearer, since it follows a comment about food and may be confused with the ticket price. Use more precise linking and references, and group related details more deliberately, to make the flow smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including “immense,” “afford,” “quality,” and “suggest,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “beyond words,” although this sounds exaggerated in a formal feedback letter. Some phrases are imprecise or repetitive: “your concert” does not identify the event in the opening, and “enjoy freely” is not a natural way to describe attending without financial concern. “The price was very low as compared to others” is also unclear about what is being compared. Choose more precise, natural collocations and maintain a consistently polite, semi-formal tone to strengthen your vocabulary control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “the chance to meet and take pictures with the singer” and the reason clause in “which was difficult for some people to afford.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “It was the concert of famous Pakistani singer” needs an article before “famous Pakistani singer,” and “The air conditioner was not working properly so try to work on that” joins two clauses without suitable punctuation or a clear grammatical link. The opening “Dear Sir” also does not follow the requested salutation. Review articles and clause punctuation, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
