Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to provide feedback on the concert being organized by a local council at the end of last July. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience, although there were a few areas that I believe could be improved.

I particularly attended concert organied for Navratri celebration for continuous three days. It was held in the community hall in Surat, 27th july, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m. I greatly appreciated the audiance support and overall management.

I mainly enjoyed the concert because I am fascinated by garba and Dance. In addition, the musician had a melodious voice, which encouraged participants to attend the performance till the last moment.

I would like to suggest some improvements for the next summer's concerns. I would be grateful if you could consider placing them into outdoor areas instead of indoors. In particular, I would appreciate it if you could arrange for some refreshments, so that we may also enjoy some delicious foods.

I sincerely hope you will take my recommendations into consideration. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to share my views. I look forward to hearting from you.

Yours faithfully,

Miral Khunt

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify the Navratri concert, explain that your interest in garba and the musician’s voice made it enjoyable, and suggest outdoor venues and refreshments. Your positive overall view is also clear. This meets the core requirements, but some details are not fully developed or are unclear. For example, “for continuous three days” does not make clear whether you attended one performance or the whole series, and the reason for moving the concerts outdoors is not explained. Add a specific benefit, such as improved atmosphere or more space for dancing, and clarify how the suggested refreshments would improve the event. These additions would make the feedback more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: it opens with the purpose and overall view, then describes the event, explains your enjoyment, and ends with suggestions and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these functions, and linking phrases such as “In addition” and “In particular” guide the sequence. The organisation is generally effective, though some connections could be more precise. The shift from the concert being held in a community hall to recommending outdoor areas would be clearer if you explicitly contrasted the indoor venue with the benefits of an outdoor setting. Also, “them” in “placing them into outdoor areas” has an unclear reference. Naming the concerts directly would make cohesion more natural and precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a formal feedback letter, including “provide feedback,” “overall management,” “melodious voice,” and “take my recommendations into consideration.” These choices communicate your meaning and show some willingness to use less common vocabulary. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling slips reduce precision: “concert organied,” “audiance,” “concerns” where you mean concerts, and “hearting” in the closing. “Delicious foods” is also less natural in this context than “refreshments” or “food and drinks.” Proofreading spelling and checking that each noun matches your intended meaning would improve control. Aim for natural, precise expressions rather than more elaborate wording where a simpler phrase is more idiomatic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the concessive clause “although there were a few areas…” and the conditional, polite suggestion “I would be grateful if you could consider…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and the errors do not prevent the reader from following your message. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. In “I particularly attended concert,” the article is missing, and “for continuous three days” needs a more accurate time expression and sentence structure. “The musician had a melodious voice” also needs a plural form if you mean the performers generally. Review articles, plural agreement, and sentence construction around time and event details; this would make your otherwise clear writing more consistently accurate.
