Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to share of feedback about the summer's concert that I attended last month.

There were a series of free concerts that most of the individuals saw according to their interests; however, the one concert that caught my attention was the singing concert by a local artist. His songs was amazing, and the energy he created was next level.

I enjoyed the concert because there were so many artists performing as well as the food served there was so delicious. Moreover, there were so many activities to do for both children and adults.

The whole concert was so amazing, but the parking for vehicles was so annoying. I, therefore, would like to suggest that it should be in the arranged in an order, so next year would be more easy and hassle free.

I hope you will organise more events in future.

Kind regards,

Akashdeep Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the concert as a performance by a local singer, explain that you enjoyed the music, food and activities, and suggest improving vehicle parking. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, “His songs was amazing” and “the energy he created was next level” express enthusiasm but do not explain what made the performance memorable. The parking suggestion is also vague: “arranged in an order” does not specify what the council should change. Add a concrete improvement, such as clearer signs, designated parking areas or staff to direct traffic, and briefly explain the benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces its purpose, describes the concert, gives reasons for enjoying it, and ends with a suggestion and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these different functions, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “therefore” show how ideas relate. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, a few links are not fully logical or precise. The opening of the second paragraph shifts from the concert you attended to a general statement about the series, and “I, therefore” does not clearly connect the parking complaint to a specific solution. Keep the focus on your experience and use transitions that make the relationship between each point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “local artist,” “activities,” “parking” and “hassle free.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “caught my attention” and “next level.” However, some choices are informal or imprecise for a feedback letter, and several phrases sound unnatural: “share of feedback,” “singing concert,” and “arranged in an order.” Repetition of “so” and “amazing” also limits the range. Choose more precise collocations, such as “provide feedback,” “live music performance” and “organised parking arrangements.” This would make your meaning clearer and give the letter a more suitable, controlled tone without losing its positive and personal character.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “however,” a reason introduced by “because,” and a result marked by “therefore.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your points. Some grammatical problems are noticeable, though. In “His songs was amazing,” the plural subject requires “were”; “there were so many artists performing as well as the food served there was so delicious” joins two ideas awkwardly; and “it should be in the arranged in an order” has an incorrect structure. Revise these sentences into clear, complete forms—for example, “The parking arrangements should be better organised.” More accurate agreement and sentence construction would strengthen your control.
