Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir or Madam
I am writing this letter to express my view about the concerts you organised in our area especially the free ones in local park.
First of all, I would like to tell you about the concert I attended that was music concert, where so many famous singers came. I really enjoyed the concert a lot with my friends because the sounds of those speakers were pretty wild chiefly when the DJ operator was making voice up and down.
Apart from it i would like to give some suggestions for upcoming summer's concert such as availability of handicapped chair, parking for buses, and more colourful lights on stage which were completely absent in last concert. In addition to it, we can think about the famous comedian guy name XYZ he can hold the attention of audience by making jokes while he is doing the job of stage secratory.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify the event as a music concert, explain that you enjoyed it with friends, and suggest changes for next summer. The comments about stage lighting and access are relevant, and the comedian is another specific idea. However, the concert description is unclear: “that was music concert” does not say which concert it was, and the reason you enjoyed it focuses mainly on the speakers and DJ rather than giving a fuller account of the experience. Some suggestions, such as bus parking and a comedian acting as stage secretary, would benefit from explanation. Develop the event details and explain how each proposed change would improve the concerts to make the feedback more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable progression: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, and a final section with suggestions. Linking phrases such as “First of all,” “Apart from it,” and “In addition to it” help signal the stages of your response. However, the connections sometimes feel mechanical, and the final paragraph combines several suggestions without grouping or explaining them. The relationship between the comedian and the role of “stage secretary” is also difficult to follow. Use clearer paragraphing to separate your concert experience from practical suggestions, and connect each idea with a more precise explanation. A conventional closing would also make the letter feel more complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “availability,” “colourful lights,” and “hold the attention of audience.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing the DJ’s performance. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make parts of the message unclear: “sounds of those speakers were pretty wild,” “making voice up and down,” and “stage secratory.” “Handicapped chair” is also not an appropriate expression for the access improvement you appear to mean. Choose precise, natural phrases such as “the sound system was powerful,” “varying the volume,” “accessible seating,” and “stage host.” Check spelling and use collocations that fit a formal letter to the council.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence explaining why you enjoyed the concert and another introducing several suggestions. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “that was music concert” needs an article, and “the famous comedian guy name XYZ” has an unclear noun structure; “a comedian named XYZ” would be clearer. In “the attention of audience,” a determiner is needed, and “upcoming summer's concert” has an awkward possessive construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the lowercase “i” and the missing comma after the greeting. Practise articles, noun phrases, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
