Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter on the free concerts organised by the local cousil in our local park in this summer. I attendend the live music concert featuring local band. I would like to give the feedback and suggestions from my experience for future events.

The concert was throughly very enjoyable, local band performance was amazing. They performerd veriety of music overthere like old songs and they also hit some latest collections, which appealed to people from all age groups. This event provides a great oppurtunity for the local residents to spend and quality time with their families and neighbourhood. In addition, because there is no fee for entry, that makes the concert more accesible for everyone.

Nevertheless, there are few areas which need the improvement. Firstly, I would recomended that concerts need additional seating because, many attendees needs to stand throughout the performance. Secondly, more rubbish bins should be installed in the event for more convience and keep the park clean.

Overall, I appericiate the efforts of local council for organising this events, I hope you will consider my suggestions in upcoming events.

Best Regards.

Harman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify the live-music concert featuring a local band, explain that its varied songs appealed to different age groups and that free entry made it accessible, and suggest more seating and rubbish bins. These relevant details give the council a clear account of your experience and a consistent, appreciative tone. Your reasons for enjoying the event are supported, although the benefit of spending time with families and neighbours is stated quite generally. The improvement suggestions are practical, but could be extended with a brief explanation of how they would help attendees or protect the park. Overall, the letter fulfils the task and communicates its purpose effectively; more specific development would make the feedback more persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: an opening that states its purpose, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph of recommendations, and a concluding expression of appreciation. This organisation makes the main points easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Nevertheless,” and “Firstly” to signal how ideas relate. To make the flow more natural, connect some details more smoothly rather than relying mainly on explicit signposts; for example, the sentence about free entry could be integrated with the explanation of the concert’s broad appeal. The closing sentence joins appreciation and hope with a comma, so separating these ideas would improve clarity. Overall, the organisation is logical, with some room for more flexible cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the event and your recommendations, including “local residents,” “performance,” “accessible,” and “attendees.” There is also some variety in describing the concert’s appeal and the park’s upkeep. However, noticeable spelling errors and inaccurate word forms reduce precision, as in “cousil,” “attendend,” “veriety,” “oppurtunity,” and “appericiate.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “spend and quality time” and “more convience” do not express the intended meaning clearly. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “spend quality time” and “for convenience.” More precise wording would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriate for formal feedback.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “music … which appealed to people from all age groups” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect accuracy. For example, “I attendend” should use a past-tense form, “They performerd” needs a correctly formed past verb, and “there are few areas” requires an article in this context. In “many attendees needs,” the subject and verb do not agree. The final sentence also joins two independent ideas with only a comma. Review past-tense forms, singular/plural agreement, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly connected structure.
