Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear sir/madam

I am writing this letter to give a positive feedback for a concert which was held by local council in the local park during this summer.I had attend the music concert and I am totally satisfied after watching this event because i am keen in watching these kind of events to gain my knowlegede about traditional music.

moreover, there are numerous reasons behind this to enjoyed this concert firtstly during that time i had a day off from my work when i heard about this concert it made me more happy to spend my holiday to watch my favourite activity.second one is that I want to gain my knowlede about tradition music rather than classical as well as watching these kind of events is a stress buster activities for me.Aditionally there was a food stals which give me a opportunity to expore different cusines .

However,i really enjoyed this concert but i have a few suggestions for you to make more better in the upcoming year ,i believe that there should be a proper seating area for people becuase it it quite hard to stay stand to watch the whole show, one more thing is that you should increase the security from the next time because there was too much crowd so with the assitance of this people feel much safer than any unsual acttivity.

thank you,I look forward to see these changes in the upcomg concerts.

your faityfully,

Gurpreet kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all three points: you identify a traditional music concert, explain that you enjoy traditional music and found the event relaxing, and suggest seating and stronger security. These details make the letter relevant and give the council useful feedback. However, the concert itself is not identified very specifically, and some reasons are repeated or only briefly explained—for example, having a day off and wanting to learn about traditional music are mentioned without much detail about what made this particular performance enjoyable. The suggestions are relevant, but explaining how seating or security could be arranged would make them more developed. The purpose is clear overall, though the opening and closing could be more appropriately formal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the feedback, gives reasons for enjoying the concert, and then offers suggestions. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “firstly,” “however,” and “one more thing” show an effort to guide the reader. This organisation is generally easy to follow. To make the progression more polished, avoid chaining several ideas into very long sentences and use punctuation to separate them. Some transitions are mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely; for instance, “However” introduces suggestions even though they do not contrast with enjoying the concert. Clearer links between each reason and the concert experience would also strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “traditional music,” “stress buster,” “seating area,” and “security.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as mentioning food stalls and different cuisines. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “knowlegede,” “firtstly,” “assitance,” and “upcomg,” and some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “give a positive feedback” and “make more better.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations for giving feedback and describing event arrangements.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because” and “when,” and the reader can generally understand your message. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “I had attend” instead of a correctly formed past-tense verb, “there was a food stals which give me,” where the verb forms do not agree in tense, and “it it quite hard,” which repeats the subject. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a opportunity” and the long run-on sentences joined with commas. Practise accurate past-tense forms and agreement, and divide longer ideas into complete sentences with appropriate punctuation.
