Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to give my feedback on the concerts that you had arranged last week in the town hall 3 days ago.I really enjoy it but also was disappointed at some point , so I just want to discuss and express everything to you in this letter.

To begin with, both concerts were extremely fabulous as well as energetic. Due to my project, I was able to attend the second concert of Shakira which was from 6pm to 8pm.The vibes and the joy over there in her concert was something that I would never imagine. The song she sang were all the old as well as world famous songs, so the audience was rocking on her performance. The energy she was showing up while perfoming was in such a way that cannot be described in words. Not only the singer but her team was also performaning their best with all their energy.

There were few things that looked disappointing to all the audience was the arrangement of food courts as well as public washroom were way far from the concerts. Also there were less number of dustbins kept around the party area. Due to lack of dustbins, few people were throwing the waste on the ground which was unattractive. And also one more change you can do for next summer concert is that to increase size of enterance so that people can enter and exit the hall without making the place populated.

Thank you,

Your reagrds.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three requested points: you identify Shakira’s second concert, explain that the familiar songs and the performer’s energy made it enjoyable, and suggest improvements to facilities and entrances. These details make the response relevant and give the council useful feedback. However, some points are not fully clear or developed. The opening refers to concerts “last week in the town hall 3 days ago,” which conflicts with the task’s setting of concerts in a local park. The suggestions about food courts, washrooms and bins are useful, but you could explain more precisely how relocating or adding them would improve the event. A more complete, consistent account and fuller development of the recommendations would strengthen the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable progression: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, and a paragraph describing problems and suggestions. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Also,” and “Due to” help show how ideas relate, and the reader can follow the main message. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “There were few things that looked disappointing to all the audience was…” makes the shift to criticism difficult to follow, while several ideas are joined in long sentences with repeated “and also.” The closing is present, but the sign-off is not conventionally phrased. Use clearer sentence boundaries, organise each improvement into a distinct point, and choose a consistent formal letter closing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary to describe the event and its atmosphere, including “energetic,” “world famous,” “audience,” and “performance.” You also communicate practical concerns with terms such as “food courts,” “dustbins,” and “entrance.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “extremely fabulous,” “the joy over there,” and “making the place populated.” There are also spelling errors such as “perfoming,” “performaning,” “enterance,” and “reagrds,” which reduce the precision and polish of the letter. Aim for natural, specific expressions—for example, describe the atmosphere as lively and say that a narrow entrance caused crowding—and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the cause-and-effect construction “Due to lack of dustbins…” and the contrast “Not only the singer but her team…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “I really enjoy it” instead of a past-tense form, “The song she sang were,” and “the vibes and the joy … was,” where verb forms or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. The sentence beginning “There were few things…” also has a faulty structure, and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Check tense consistency, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
