Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to inform you that I attented free concert of music this summer from a series of concerts which was well organised by local council members. This concerts contain several kinds of music and I enjoyed a lot.

I attented music concert evening show in june month with my family. The show has well setting arrangement as well as good audio system setup. Voice is clearly audioable to the public in the whole hall. Moreover, the attention is gained by the 3D projectors as the singer is also visible on it. Whereas, folk music make the atmosphere positive ,while, pop music make people joyful and work as a stress buster for them.

I enjoyed this concert because I meet new people in this concert and make memorable memories with them. This concert was the late evening show so there was no pressure of office work for individuals.

Some suggestion which I think enhance the concert next time should be proper arrangement of entry and exit area since this time there was huge waiting in queue due to one way. Next time parking area should also be extended and take charges for parking so that people can smoothly park there vehicles and enjoy the concert.

Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the evening music concert in June, explain that you enjoyed the sound and visual arrangements and the atmosphere, and suggest improvements to entry, exit and parking. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. The reasons for enjoyment are not equally developed, however: meeting new people and having no work pressure are mentioned but not explained with specific examples. The parking suggestion is also somewhat unclear because charging for parking is proposed without explaining how this would improve the experience. To strengthen the response, develop each reason and link each suggestion more directly to a practical benefit for concertgoers. The purpose and overall message are clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it opens with its purpose, then describes the concert, explains your enjoyment, and ends with suggestions and a sign-off. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “because” show relationships between ideas. Some links are less smooth or precise, though. “Whereas” introduces a contrast that is not clearly established, and “while” is used awkwardly in the same sentence. The opening also repeats the idea of attending and enjoying the concert before the details are given. Improve progression by keeping each paragraph focused on one purpose and using linking expressions only when their logical relationship is clear. This would make the organisation feel more flexible and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “audio system,” “3D projectors,” “folk music,” “stress buster,” and “waiting in queue,” which helps convey both the concert experience and practical concerns. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “memorable memories.” However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make parts less natural: “attented,” “audioable,” “good setting arrangement,” and “make people joyful” do not express the ideas idiomatically. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “concert” and “this concert.” Aim to learn common combinations such as “sound system,” “clearly audible,” and “create a joyful atmosphere,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate, natural phrasing would make your descriptions clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including sentences beginning with “because” and “since,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “This concerts contain” has a singular/plural mismatch, while “I meet new people” and “folk music make” need verb forms that agree with the intended time and subject. The sentence beginning “Whereas” is not joined smoothly to the preceding idea, and punctuation around “while” is awkward. Work on keeping past-tense narration consistent and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. These corrections, alongside your existing attempts at complex sentences, would improve control.
