Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir or Madam,
I am writing regarding a series of free concerts organised by your local council this summer. I would like to appreciate your efforts in organising this event and I also wanted to provide feedback about the series of events.
To begin with, I was fortunate enough to attend the concert on last saturday evening in the local park. There were multiple singers performing classical music that night.
I really enjoyed the event because of the environment created by the performers. The music was so soothing and beautiful that motivated the audience to participate while the singer was singing a song. All the arrangments were extremely well organised, making it a seemless experience from start to finish.
Although everything was perfect but I want to make a suggestion for the future improvements. I want to request you to please set up few extra portable washrooms, because of the bigger crowd it was little difficult to use the park's public washrooms.
I appreciate your assisstance in this matter and hope to hearing from you soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Dilpreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you identify the Saturday evening concert, explain that the soothing classical music and performers’ atmosphere encouraged audience participation, and suggest adding portable washrooms. Your appreciation of the council also establishes a polite, appropriate purpose for the letter. The enjoyment point is supported with relevant detail, and the practical suggestion is linked to the difficulty caused by the larger crowd. To make the response more fully developed, specify the concert or performers more precisely and explain how the council might arrange or locate the extra facilities. The comment that “everything was perfect” also sits somewhat awkwardly beside the improvement request; a more balanced evaluation would make your feedback more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression from its purpose, to the concert attended, to your reasons for enjoying it, and finally to a suggestion and closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, while phrases such as “To begin with” and “Although” signal relationships between ideas. The reader can follow the message without difficulty. Some linking is slightly mechanical, however, and “Although everything was perfect but…” combines two contrasting linkers unnecessarily. The opening also repeats the idea of providing feedback after already stating that this is the purpose of the letter. For a more polished progression, remove that repetition and use a single, natural transition into the suggestion, such as “One improvement for next summer would be…”
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range for a formal feedback letter, including relevant expressions such as “soothing,” “participate,” “portable washrooms,” and “from start to finish.” These choices communicate your experience and suggestion clearly, and the tone is generally courteous. There is some evidence of more ambitious vocabulary, but several word-choice and spelling slips limit precision: “appreciate your efforts” is less natural here than “commend your efforts,” while “seemless,” “arrangments,” and “assisstance” are misspelled. “Environment created by the performers” is understandable but broad; a more specific description of the atmosphere would be more vivid. Check spelling carefully and choose collocations that sound natural in formal correspondence to strengthen the range and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the explanation beginning “because of the environment” and the clause describing the crowd’s effect on washroom access. Most meaning remains clear, and the letter’s overall structure is easy to understand. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “that motivated the audience” needs a clearer grammatical link, such as “which motivated the audience,” and “hope to hearing” should be “hope to hear.” In “Although everything was perfect but,” use either “Although everything was perfect” or “Everything was perfect, but…”. Also revise “on last Saturday evening” and “set up few extra” to “last Saturday evening” and “set up a few extra.”
