Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir or madam,
I am writing a feedback about concert in my hometown.
I am Farvinder Singh. I am writing this letter to you of last concert which is held at my town on last sunday. The concert is about a music performance from people they got prizes who well performed. Moreover, the concert was totally free without any ticket cost which allow to all people to watch and perform if they want to do.
Alot of things i enjoyed in concert such as music, dance and some other activities. All staff were doing their jobs in perfect way. Furthermore, I liked some quiz games which performed by a young man he was very talented guy.
However, i would like to suggest some improvements for next summer's concert you should make siting arrangements for elder people. Secondly, add some quality of food stalls as well some toy shops to attract the children.
I hope you will consider my suggestion and make some changes as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Farvinder Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover all three requested points: you identify the event as the “last concert” on Sunday, explain that you enjoyed the music, dance, activities and quiz, and suggest seating for older people plus food stalls and toy shops. These details keep the letter relevant and give the council usable feedback. However, the concert is not identified specifically by its musical style or performers, and the reasons for enjoying it are mostly listed rather than explained. The improvement ideas are also brief, with little detail about how they would help. Develop each point more fully—for example, describe what made the performance memorable and explain how accessible seating would improve the experience for older attendees.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from its purpose and concert description to enjoyment, suggestions and a closing. Paragraphing helps separate the positive feedback from the recommendations, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “Secondly” make the sequence easy to follow. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical, and some references are unclear: “which performed by a young man” does not clearly connect the quiz to the performer. The opening also repeats “I am writing” in consecutive sentences. Use clearer links between ideas and group related details more deliberately; for instance, explain the quiz immediately after introducing it, then transition naturally to the suggestions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “concert,” “music,” “dance,” “quiz games,” “siting arrangements” and “food stalls.” Some variety is also shown through phrases such as “attract the children.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which makes parts of the letter less natural. For example, “I am writing a feedback” and “some quality of food stalls” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically, while “Alot” and “siting” show spelling problems. Build a bank of natural phrases for formal feedback, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “Moreover, the concert was totally free … which allow to all people to watch and perform.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the longer sentence is not controlled accurately. Errors with articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence construction occur throughout: “a feedback,” “which is held … on last sunday,” and “which performed by a young man” are examples. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “i” and “sunday.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall message remains understandable. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and relative clauses, and check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
