Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to give my genuine feedback on the concert that I recently attended which was organised by the local council.
There were so many free concerts but because of the busy schedule I was able to attend only the concert which was held on last Sunday. It was the concert where various countryside bands performed.
I enjoyed that concert a lot mainly because it was well managed. Because it was held in the the central city park which is huge, it did not feel like there was a gathering of 1500 people. Moreover, the volunteers were also very helpful throught the concert.
The only thing that I would like you to improve for the next year's concert is the music system. I would like if you can install more mikes and speakers for the bett

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the concert as the one held last Sunday, featuring countryside bands, and explain that you enjoyed its organisation, the park setting and the helpful volunteers. You also make a relevant suggestion about improving the sound system. However, the improvement point is cut off at “for the bett…”, so the suggestion is not fully explained, and the letter ends without a closing. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your feedback. Add a specific explanation of the sound problem and practical suggestions, such as more microphones and speakers, and complete the letter with an appropriate sign-off. These omissions leave some parts less fully addressed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible order: you introduce your purpose, identify the concert, describe what you enjoyed, and then offer an improvement. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and links such as “Moreover” make the sequence easy to follow. This gives the letter a coherent overall arrangement. To make the progression more polished, avoid repeating “concert” so closely and use clearer links between the event details and your reasons for enjoying it. The final sentence is incomplete, which interrupts the flow and leaves the reader without a finished conclusion. Completing the suggestion and adding a brief closing would make the organisation feel more complete and controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task and communicates the main points clearly, with useful phrases such as “well managed,” “helpful” and “gathering of 1500 people.” You also use relevant event vocabulary, including “bands,” “volunteers,” “music system,” “mikes” and “speakers.” There are some imprecise or informal choices, however: “genuine feedback” is slightly unnatural in this context, and “mikes” is less suitable than “microphones” in a formal letter. “Countryside bands” may also be unclear if you mean country-music bands. Aim for more precise collocations and a consistently formal register. The unfinished final word also prevents the intended phrase from being understood.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “the concert which I recently attended” and the reason clause beginning “mainly because.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “held on last Sunday” should be “held last Sunday,” and “I would like if you can install” needs a structure such as “I would like you to install” or “I would appreciate it if you could install.” The phrase “held in the the central city park” also contains a repeated article, while the final sentence is incomplete. Check articles, prepositions and conditional request forms, then proofread for sentence completion.
