Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Pankaj, a resident of your city. I am writing this letter to provide you feedback on the music concert that you organised in the local park. I am delighted that the all concerts are free of cost, so every resident of the city can take part.

I attented the music concert which was held on the 12th june. I appreciated the arrangements that you made for this concert. But the music show was the centre of attraction among the resident, because the famous band was performing in that event.

The band performed the well-know folk songs, which everyone enjoyed and the dance performance did by the local group was remarkable. I also like to mention about the play about the history of the city.

I would like to give some suggestion for the improvement of the next year summer concerts. Please ensure that there should be ample amount parking available for the people and sign board should be placed so people should know where to go.

I hope this suggestion will help you for the future concerts and please feel free to reach me out for the further questions.

Thank you

Your faithfully,

Pankaj

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the concert as the music event on 12 June, explain that you enjoyed the famous band, folk songs, local dance group and historical play, and suggest more parking and signboards. These details make the feedback relevant and show a clear purpose. However, the reasons for enjoying the event are mostly listed rather than developed; for example, you could explain what made the band’s performance or the play especially memorable. The improvement suggestions are useful but could be more specific, such as indicating where additional parking or clearer signs would help. The response covers the task well overall, while fuller explanation and support would make the ideas more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible overall order: it introduces its purpose, describes the concert, then offers suggestions and closes politely. Paragraphing helps separate the main stages, and linking words such as “because,” “But” and “also” show attempts to connect ideas. Some connections are less smooth, however. “But the music show was the centre of attraction” does not clearly contrast with the previous sentence, and the shift from the band to the dance performance and play could be guided more clearly. The final paragraph also combines the suggestions, hope and invitation for questions in a crowded way. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph focus on one clear purpose to strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for this letter, including relevant expressions such as “centre of attraction,” “folk songs,” “dance performance” and “ample amount parking.” The vocabulary communicates the main points, and the tone is generally appropriate for writing to the council. There are some inaccurate or unnatural choices that reduce precision, including “provide you feedback,” “well-know folk songs” and “reach me out.” Spelling errors such as “attented” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check word forms and spelling: for example, “give you feedback,” “well-known folk songs” and “contact me.” More precise language for the practical suggestions would also help, such as specifying “additional parking spaces” and “directional signs.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because the famous band was performing” and a relative clause in “which everyone enjoyed.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For instance, “the all concerts” should be “all the concerts,” “the dance performance did by the local group” needs a passive form such as “performed by the local group,” and “some suggestion” should be plural. The closing “Your faithfully” also has an agreement error. Review article use, singular and plural forms, and passive constructions, then proofread each sentence. Greater accuracy across these structures would make the letter more polished.
