Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to provide the feedback on the free concerts organised by the local council in our local park.

Since I am really interested into pop music, I attended the Romantic Vibes by Honey Singh on September 1st and really enjoyed it to the fullest especially the song which was sung in the last was lovely.

The concert started in the gloomy evening time and the lights were cherry on the cake.I partuicularly enjoyed the music of this concert the most. Not only was it fully crowded, it also had people from other cities. Moreover, the overall vibe of the concert was absolute fun.

Everything was extremely amazing except some facts such as people were struggling as there were limited number of rest rooms.Thats why, I would highly suggest you to get more toilets as well as drinking water containers as people really feels thirty after putting so much of energy in the performances.

I hope you will take my suggestions into account.

Sincerely,

Shobhna Verma

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the concert as “Romantic Vibes by Honey Singh,” explain that you enjoyed the music, final song, lighting and atmosphere, and suggest adding toilets and drinking-water containers. These details make the letter relevant and give the council useful feedback. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you mention that the concert was crowded and attracted people from other cities, but do not explain whether this was a positive feature or created any particular issue. The suggestions focus on facilities, while other practical improvements could also be considered. The purpose and overall positive opinion are clear; developing the reasons and linking each suggestion to the audience’s experience would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a description of the concert, comments on the experience, suggestions, and a closing. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “Not only,” and “except” show attempts to link ideas. At times, however, the progression is not fully smooth. The sentence about the concert being crowded and attracting people from other cities is not clearly connected to your enjoyment, and “Everything was extremely amazing except some facts” introduces the practical problems awkwardly. Some linking phrases also feel mechanical rather than precise. To strengthen the flow, group related positive details together, then introduce the problems and suggestions directly, using clear references to explain how each point relates to the concert.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary to describe the event, including “gloomy,” “overall vibe,” and “extremely amazing,” and the reader can understand your main points. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or too informal for a letter to the council. “Interested into” is not the natural expression, “cherry on the cake” is an unsuitable form of the idiom, and “people really feels thirty” contains unclear vocabulary. “Some facts” is also imprecise when you mean problems or shortcomings. Spelling errors such as “partuicularly” and “Thats” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “particularly enjoyed,” “a highlight of the evening,” and “attendees felt thirsty.” This would make your feedback clearer and more appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex structures, including “Since I am really interested…” and “Not only was it fully crowded, it also had people from other cities.” The meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “I attended … and really enjoyed it” has an unclear subject for “enjoyed,” while “there were limited number of rest rooms” needs an article or plural form. In “people really feels,” the verb does not agree with the plural subject, and “as people … after putting so much of energy” is not formed clearly. Punctuation also needs attention: there is no space after the full stop in “cake.I,” and “Thats” needs an apostrophe. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries to improve control.
