Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear sir,

I'm writing this letter to express my sincere thanks to organised a series of free concerts for the community. I'm taking this opportunity to appreciate all the team members for thier support and efforts.

I attented the musical concert and honestly i didn't had an opportunity to attend such a big concert and by the famous Musican AR Rahman. I'm really glad to meet him personally and really enjoyed the evening. He was my one of the favourite musican and didn't thought to meet him directly. The time you held the concerts was on last saturday evening which was really convenient for everyone to come and attend especially for working people like me. So, me and my friends had a chance to get the opportunity to enjoy together for the concert.

I really want to put some suggestion from my side for the future for your consideration that the entry pass was little bit expensive and didn't had that much space in the auditorium. The auditorium was crowded with lots of people and hard to stand and sit most of the people were sruggled to find a space to stand and sit. I want to put this matter to the team consideration for the future.

Overall, i loved the experience that i had and belive that the team will consider those matter to the coming series of concersts.

Best regards,

Anju

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the main requirements by identifying the musical concert, explaining that you enjoyed seeing the performer and attending with friends, and offering suggestions about the cost and crowding. These details make the letter relevant and give the council useful feedback. However, the concert is not identified very precisely, and the reasons for enjoying it are mostly personal reactions rather than developed explanation. The improvement points are also difficult to interpret: you mention an “entry pass” being expensive, although the task describes free concerts, and do not clearly suggest practical changes such as a larger venue or better crowd management. Clarifying these points and explaining how the council could act on them would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph of suggestions, and a closing. This helps the reader follow the main stages of your message. Some links between ideas, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “So, me and my friends had a chance to get the opportunity” repeats the same idea, while the long sentence beginning “The auditorium was crowded” joins several points without clear punctuation. The final paragraph repeats that the experience was enjoyable but does not neatly summarise the suggestions. Use shorter sentences where ideas change, remove repeated wording, and make the relationship between each point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the purpose, including “sincere thanks,” “convenient,” “crowded,” and “consideration,” and the reader can generally understand your message. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision. Phrases such as “put some suggestion from my side” and “meet him directly” are not natural in this context; “offer a few suggestions” and “meet him in person” would be clearer. There are also spelling errors such as “attented,” “thier,” and “concersts.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than repeating “opportunity” and “really,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction, which sometimes make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “thanks to organised” instead of “thanks for organising,” “I didn't had” instead of “I didn't have,” and “He was my one of the favourite musician.” The sentence about the crowded auditorium also runs several ideas together, making its structure difficult to follow. Practise forming past-tense sentences accurately and separating complete ideas with full stops. Careful editing for articles and subject–verb agreement would improve clarity.
