Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to provide my experience regarding the concert arranged last Saturday.
Last Saturday, we have one concert named street Garba. I must say it was one of my memoriable days. After that day, I have realized that it is one kind of the cultural dance from India.
There are couple of things that was Brilliantly arranged and amazed my family. Firstly, the dance, it was unique dance and everyone was welcomeing. Even though, my family didn't know anything about it, people around us were so curious to teach us. Secondly, the food, it was a treat to the heaven. It was delicious. For example , we tried khaman, khandvi, dosa and Gulab-jamun rabdi. Lastly, the music was also energetic. My family had a best time of there lives.
However, I have a suggestion for the parking. The management needs to arrange enough parking space for the people.
Other than that everything else was top notch.
Yours faithfully,
Harpreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the street Garba concert, explain that the welcoming dancers, food and energetic music made it enjoyable, and suggest providing more parking. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. The enjoyment is supported with examples such as the dishes you tried and your family being taught the dance. However, the concert’s name and description could be clearer, and the improvement suggestion is brief: explain how limited parking affected attendees or propose a practical solution, such as opening nearby spaces. The positive feedback is more fully developed than the recommendation, so the response covers the task well but not all parts equally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph describing the concert, a separate suggestion, and a polite closing. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Lastly” help organise the reasons for your enjoyment, and the examples generally follow the points they support. Some connections are less smooth, however. “After that day” does not clearly show how the cultural information relates to your experience, while “Other than that everything else was top notch” is a broad closing statement that repeats the positive evaluation without adding much. Grouping the enjoyment details more tightly and linking the parking suggestion to the event would make progression more natural and cohesion less dependent on listing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the letter and include some specific vocabulary, including “cultural dance,” “energetic,” and the names of the foods. These details help convey the atmosphere and make the account personal. There are also attempts at expressive language, such as “a treat to the heaven” and “top notch,” but some choices or combinations are inaccurate or too informal for a council letter. Spelling and word-form slips such as “memoriable” and “welcomeing” also reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and a consistently polite, semi-formal tone; for example, describe the food as “a real treat” and the event as “very well organised.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both short statements and some longer structures, including a concessive clause beginning “Even though,” and the sequence of reasons is generally understandable. However, errors in tense, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “we have one concert” should use a past form, and “There are couple of things that was” has problems with both the article and agreement. “My family had a best time” also needs a different article. Some punctuation around introductory phrases and lists is inconsistent. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the experience, but greater control of basic forms and more accurate complex sentences are needed for a stronger performance.
