Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir
I am going to write this letter to give feedback about the last music concert that I attended last week. The concert was very great, I enjoyed a lot there. I went there with my cousins and friends. My cousins came from Canada, and they had a lot of fun. I enjoyed a lot because my favorite singer diljit dosanjh was performing front of me. i was sitting in first row. He came close to first row and he shaked hand with me. I was really surprised. I never attend any of the concert in my life this was the first time when I attend the concert and I danced a lot with my freinds and cousins.
However, there are only few things which I do not like there. Firstly, there was no any sitting area for old age people who can sit and listen music. I think it is very difficult for them to stand for five hours. So, i want to suggest to organization please provide sitting area to old age people.
Thanks
Regards

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the main points by identifying the concert as a performance by Diljit Dosanjh, explaining your enjoyment through the front-row experience and interaction with the singer, and suggesting seating for older attendees. These details make the letter relevant and personal. However, the concert is introduced only as “the last music concert” rather than being clearly identified as one of the council’s free park concerts, and the improvement section is less developed than the account of your enjoyment. Explain how seating could be arranged and consider another practical improvement, such as clearer information or better facilities. The purpose is clear, but developing the suggestions more fully would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally understandable order: you describe the concert and your experience, then move to a concern and suggestion. “However” helps signal the change from positive feedback to criticism. At times, though, the progression is weakened by repeated ideas, such as saying several times that you enjoyed the event, and by long stretches of information placed in one paragraph. The opening and closing are also very brief, and the relationship between the concert details and the council’s request could be made clearer. Use separate paragraphs for the concert, your suggestions, and the closing, and connect related details more selectively so the reader can follow your feedback smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main experience, with relevant terms such as “performing,” “first row,” and “sitting area.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, including “very great,” “I enjoyed a lot,” and “old age people.” These choices make the letter sound less fluent and occasionally require the reader to interpret your meaning. Spelling and capitalization also need attention, for example “freinds,” “i,” and the singer’s name. Build a wider set of natural phrases for describing performances, audience experiences, and practical recommendations, and check spelling and proper nouns before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the main events using mostly simple sentences and make some attempts to combine ideas, for example, “I enjoyed a lot because my favorite singer … was performing.” However, errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. In “he shaked hand with me,” the past-tense form and article are incorrect; “I never attend … this was the first time when I attend” also shifts between tenses and does not form a clear sentence. The opening comma splice in “The concert was very great, I enjoyed…” affects punctuation. Practise consistent past-tense narration and use full stops or conjunctions to join complete clauses. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your account easier to read.
