Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you so much for giving me opportunity to share my thought regarding the latest summer concert.

The folk music concert was outstanding, which I attended on October 25, 2026. The local folk music was the theme of that event and the participants were all teenagers.

The perfomance of the singers were the highlights of that day, which is the primary reason that why I liked that concert. The lightning effects are not only enhanced the beauty of the stage but also changed the aura of that musical night.

Although council has been organized all the events professionally, for making hte future one more superior. I would like to share some suggetions for betterment of these concerts. If you would add more sitting and better sound equipments, it may provide more satisfactory experience to the dwellers.

Thank you so much for these events for the local. Hope my suggestions would be helpful in the next event.

Yours faithfully,

Nardeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the folk music concert, explain that the singers and lighting made it enjoyable, and suggest more seating and better sound equipment. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. The positive evaluation is clear, but some ideas are only briefly explained. For example, you call the singers a highlight without describing what made their performance effective, and the improvement suggestions would be stronger if you explained the problem each would solve. The date, October 25, also seems inconsistent with a summer concert, so check that detail. More specific support and clarification would make the response feel more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: it opens with thanks, describes the concert, gives reasons for enjoying it, and then offers suggestions before closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Although” and “If” show attempts to connect ideas. The sequence is easy to follow, though some connections are awkward or unclear. In “Although council has been organized all the events professionally, for making the future one more superior,” the contrast and the relationship between the clauses are difficult to understand. The final thanks and hope also repeat the opening sentiment. Use more direct transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one clear purpose to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “folk music,” “highlights,” “lightning effects,” and “satisfactory experience.” These choices communicate the main points, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “share my thought,” “more superior,” “betterment,” and “sound equipments.” There are also spelling errors, including “perfomance,” “hte,” “suggetions,” and “lightning” where “lighting” is intended. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Prefer familiar, accurate phrases such as “share my thoughts,” “improve next summer’s concerts,” and “better sound equipment,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional suggestion beginning “If you would add…” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “The performance of the singers were” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “which is the primary reason that why” uses an unnecessary and confusing clause structure. “The lightning effects are not only enhanced” also has an incorrect verb form, and “Although council has been organized…” does not form a complete, well-controlled sentence with the following phrase. Check agreement, tense consistency, articles, and clause construction; aim to make complex sentences accurate before adding further complexity.
