Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the concert you attended as one featuring pottery and handmade crafts, and you explain that you enjoyed seeing artistic work and the effort involved. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it does not make any suggestions for improving next summer’s concerts, and the reasons for your enjoyment are brief rather than developed. The required letter is also substantially below the 150-word minimum, which limits how fully you can cover the points. To improve, add specific feedback—for example, suggest more seating, clearer event schedules, or refreshments—and explain how these changes would help visitors. Develop your positive comments with a concrete detail about the performers or the atmosphere.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The ideas are broadly relevant and follow a simple order: you thank the council, describe your experience, and name the concert you liked. Basic linking phrases such as “first of all” and “but” help show the relationship between ideas. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, and the progression stops before the requested suggestions are introduced. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “All the concerts were great but the one I liked was…” because it does not explain whether you attended several concerts or are referring to the series generally. Use separate paragraphs for your opening, concert feedback, and recommendations, and connect each point clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “artistic work,” “creative,” “concert,” and “learning new skills.” These choices communicate your general enthusiasm and show an attempt to describe the event rather than relying only on very basic words. However, the range is limited, and several spelling errors make the letter less polished: “appriciate,” “joyfull,” “attand,” “amzing,” “potary,” and “rexlation.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “make their summer joyfull” and “the one I liked was the potary and hand made craft.” Check spelling carefully and use more precise event vocabulary, such as “pottery workshop” or “craft exhibition,” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate several simple ideas using basic sentence patterns, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There is an attempt to join ideas in “All the concerts were great but the one I liked was…,” which shows some sentence variety. However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation are frequent enough to affect the letter’s fluency. For example, “hope your are doing well” lacks a clear subject, while “first of all i would like…” needs a capital letter and clearer punctuation. Practise complete sentences with accurate subject–verb forms, and use full stops to separate ideas. A more controlled structure would make your feedback easier to follow.
