Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Tinkal Patel, a resident of Navsari. I am writing this to give my genuine feedback on The Rock band concert which was organised by local council. I attended this concert on last Sunday in Parsi park and it was really amazing.
Firstly, Rock band did fabulous job. They played jazz music , rock music and pop music as well. All the band members were very enthuziastic and energetic. I went with my friends and we all enjoyed the sound and music. The drumer boy did fantastic job and we did dance on the drum sound.
Lastly, I would like to suggest that, it was very congested in the Parsi park. Therefore, I would like the management to select different venue for next year's summer concert. Additionally, it was very hot in the daytime therefore, evening time would be more appropriate.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your prompt response.
Yours sincerely,
Tinkal Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you identify the concert as The Rock band’s performance, explain that you enjoyed the music and the energetic performers, and suggest a different venue and an evening schedule. The positive response is supported with personal details, such as attending with friends and dancing to the drum sound, so the reader understands why the event was enjoyable. Your suggestions are relevant, although they could be developed further—for example, explain how a larger venue would ease congestion or how evening timing would improve comfort. The letter’s purpose and tone are clear throughout; adding a little more specific support to the recommendations would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening that states its purpose, a paragraph about the concert, and a final paragraph with recommendations. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Lastly,” and “Additionally” help the reader follow the points, and the closing is appropriate. This gives the response a coherent progression. However, the linking can feel somewhat mechanical, particularly because “Firstly” and “Lastly” organise ideas that could instead be connected more naturally. The relationship between the park being congested and the recommendation to change venues is understandable, but could be made more explicit. Use a wider range of transitions and clearer links between reasons and suggestions to make cohesion more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including relevant terms such as “concert,” “venue,” “congested,” and “appropriate.” Positive descriptions like “amazing,” “energetic,” and “fantastic” communicate your enjoyment, though several are broad or repetitive rather than precise. There are also some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, including “enthuziastic” and “drumer,” which should be corrected to “enthusiastic” and “drummer.” The phrase “did dance on the drum sound” is understandable but not natural English. Aim for more accurate collocations and a few precise descriptions of the performance and the venue; this would make your vocabulary more flexible and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason-and-result link in “Therefore, I would like the management to select different venue.” Most sentences communicate your meaning clearly, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “on last Sunday” needs a different time expression, and “select different venue” requires an article before “different venue.” The sentence beginning “Additionally” joins two ideas with “therefore” but would be clearer with more controlled punctuation or a separate sentence. There is also a tense and phrasing issue in “we did dance on the drum sound.” Review articles, prepositions, and sentence construction, while continuing to practise varied complex sentences.
