Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well. I'm writing this to provide the feedback regarding the free concerts that were organised by local counsil. There were lot of concerts there but only one that I can attend was the Orchestra.

Overall, the concert was amazing. The outdoor park space under the vaste sky was astonishing. Fresh air and the sky full of moon and stars enhanced the the beauty of the concert. The music was also great. The musician and sound system gave their full efforts to make it memorable. There were quite large space for everyone attending the concert.

I enjoyed it most but there are some suggestions that should be looked after for the next year. First of all, temporary restrooms was not enough for the large crowd of conset. Secondly, you should install multiple large screens for the audience that was sitting far behind.

Thank you for organizing such a memorable event and I will look forward to attend next year.

Yours faithfully,

Muhammad Qadeer Abbas

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify the orchestra concert, explain your enjoyment through the setting, music and available space, and suggest more temporary restrooms and large screens. The positive evaluation is supported with relevant details, such as the open sky and the music, so the reader understands what made the event memorable. Your improvement ideas are practical and connected to the audience’s needs. To make the response more fully developed, explain the impact of the limited restrooms or distant viewing in a little more detail, and specify which orchestra performance you attended if possible. The feedback is clear throughout, though some praise remains general, such as calling the concert “amazing.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression from its purpose, to your positive experience, and then to suggestions for next summer. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and signposts such as “Overall,” “First of all,” and “Secondly” make the sequence easy to follow. The closing also suits the letter’s purpose. Some linking is a little mechanical, particularly the numbered suggestions, and the transition from praise to criticism could be smoother. There is also a slightly unclear reference in “I enjoyed it most,” since “most” does not identify what it is being compared with. More varied transitions and clearer references would make the flow more natural while preserving this effective organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including descriptive phrases such as “vast sky,” “fresh air,” and “memorable event,” as well as relevant terms like “temporary restrooms” and “large screens.” These choices communicate your experience and suggestions clearly. There are, however, some spelling and word-choice or collocation inaccuracies, including “counsil,” “conset,” “full efforts,” and “the sky full of moon and stars.” A few expressions also sound less natural, such as “provide the feedback” and “large space.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding more elaborate vocabulary; for example, describe the musicians as “performed enthusiastically” and the park as “spacious.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “I enjoyed it most but…” and the explanation that the sky and fresh air enhanced the concert’s beauty. The overall meaning remains clear, and the letter’s sentences are generally easy to understand. Some grammatical errors remain, especially with articles, agreement and verb forms: “There were lot of concerts” needs an article, “temporary restrooms was” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “I will look forward to attend” requires a different verb pattern. There is also a repeated “the” in “enhanced the the beauty.” Check agreement and verb patterns during proofreading, and vary sentence structures while keeping them controlled.
