Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well.

I am writing to give my feedback about the concerts which you organized in The Rainbow park. I attended the cooking event. I really love to do cooking and I have knowledge of different cuisines. Because of this reason, I secifically choose this concert to attend so that I can improve my skills and enhance the broadens of my knowledge.

I am really delightful participating in this event because I get the chance to meet well known chefs. I am impressed by their unique cooking styles. It was really wonderful to see how professionally they were doing each small thing from organizing the basic ingredients to decorate the dishes. I truly enjoyed that we could taste the dishes free of cost.

However, I want to give some suggestions so that you can improve next year's concert. Firstly, the space was very congested and there were no facilties for using washrooms. I would like to recommend use portable toilets next time. Moreover, the entry ticket was expensive. There should be some offers so that everyone can participate in this concert. I believe that you will focus on these small suggestions so that people will not face these difficulties and enjoy these concerts.

I look forward to hearing from your side.

Yours Sincerely,

Jasdeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the cooking event, explain your enjoyment of meeting chefs and tasting dishes, and suggest portable toilets and more affordable entry. These details make the letter relevant and give the council usable feedback. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, you say the space was “very congested” but do not explain how this affected the concert, and the suggestion of “some offers” is vague; specify options such as reduced-price or free tickets. Also, the task asks you to begin “Dear Sir or Madam,” whereas you use “Dear Sir,”. A little more explanation of the concert’s impact and more precise recommendations would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening and event description, a paragraph explaining what you enjoyed, and a final paragraph with suggestions. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “However,” “Firstly,” and “Moreover” help distinguish your points. This already gives the response a coherent structure. To make the links feel more flexible and natural, avoid relying on formulaic transitions and connect each suggestion directly to its reason—for example, explain that portable toilets would address the lack of washroom facilities. The repeated use of “concert” and “so that” also makes some links feel mechanical. A more precise reference such as “the event” and varied sentence connections would improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to describe the event and your reactions, including “unique cooking styles,” “basic ingredients,” and “congested.” These choices communicate the main points, and the reader can understand your feedback. However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems reduce precision: “secifically” is misspelled, “delightful participating” is not a natural phrase, and “enhance the broadens of my knowledge” is unclear. “Free of cost” is understandable but less natural than “free of charge.” Aim for accurate word forms and common collocations, especially when describing your reasons for attending and your recommendations. This will make your vocabulary more controlled and appropriate for a formal letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause “Because of this reason…” and the purpose clause “so that I can improve my skills.” Most of the message remains understandable, and errors rarely prevent the reader from following your meaning. Some grammatical problems are present, however. In “I really love to do cooking” and “I get the chance,” the verb forms do not fit smoothly with the past event; use “I enjoy cooking” and “I got the chance.” The phrase “recommend use portable toilets” needs a grammatical pattern such as “recommend using portable toilets.” Review tense consistency and verb patterns, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
