Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to give my feedback about the concert that was held in the local park this summer.

I attended a traditional music concert that was held on 25th October. Moreover, this concert was very memorable for me because I met my favourite singer, Ajit Sharma. He is my childhood role model because, from childhood, I listened to his traditional songs that motivate me a lot when I feel down and sad.

Furthermore, I really enjoyed this show because it's my dream; one day in my life, I will attend his concert. He is also a kind-hearted person because, during the concert, he invited his fans onto the stage and clicked photos with them. I am also one of them. There was such positive energy in the place when he sang. Everyone loved his music.

Finally, the concert ran so well, but I think there is a shortage of space, such as not enough seats for the audience, because in the summer the place is so hot. I think next time it will be an opportunity to work on air conditioners and fans.

I hope you like my feedback.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Sargun

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify the traditional music concert and its date, explain your enjoyment through meeting Ajit Sharma and the atmosphere, and suggest improvements for next summer. The personal details—especially that he invited fans on stage and took photos—extend your explanation rather than simply stating that you enjoyed it. Your overall positive view is also clear. The improvement suggestions are relevant, but they are less fully developed than the reasons for your enjoyment: explain how more seating and fans or other cooling arrangements could be provided, and consider whether the date is correct for a summer concert. More specific, practical suggestions would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall progression, moving from its purpose to the concert experience, then to suggestions and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “Finally” make the sequence easy to follow. This gives the response a coherent structure, though some linking is mechanical: several paragraphs begin with formulaic transitions, and “Moreover” introduces a detail that could connect more naturally to the preceding sentence. The two paragraphs about enjoyment also overlap somewhat. To strengthen the flow, group the singer-related details together and use more precise links that show cause, contrast or result rather than relying mainly on sequencing words.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the concert experience and your suggestions, including “traditional music,” “role model,” “positive energy” and “shortage of space.” These choices make your enthusiasm clear, and the reader can understand your meaning throughout. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural for a formal feedback letter, such as “clicked photos,” “work on air conditioners,” and “the place is so hot.” There is also repetition of “concert” and “enjoyed.” Aim for more natural collocations and specific terms—for example, describe the council as providing additional seating and cooling facilities. This would give your vocabulary greater precision and flexibility while retaining your personal tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentences, and several are controlled effectively, such as “He is my childhood role model because… I listened to his traditional songs” and the sentence describing how he invited fans onto the stage. Meaning remains clear throughout. Some grammatical choices are less accurate or consistent: “it's my dream” shifts into the present tense before “I will attend,” while “one day in my life” is awkwardly formed; “next time it will be an opportunity” also makes the suggestion difficult to express precisely. Review tense consistency and sentence construction when describing past events and future recommendations. More accurate control of these patterns, alongside your existing longer sentences, would make the letter smoother.
