Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

First of all thank you for organising such a wonderful concert, I really enjoyed it and I am writing this you as there are some scope of improvement for future events.

I am a big fan of Atif Aslam and enjoy his songs, so definitely I attended his concert, it was a dream come true concert and you made it happen by organising such a beautiful concert.

As earlier mentioned I am a huge fan of Atif Aslam, his voice is magical and I was mesmerized by it. Apart from it, the concert was beautifully organised the theme definitely matched the vibe and food court that was placed was cherry on the top. I attended the concert with my friends and we also tried different delicacies and loved it. Overall I enjoyed it a lot.

There are some feedback for next summer's concert. Firstly the concert was really great a lot of people attended but the seating arrangement was not sufficient for the number of audience and many couldn't enjoy the show due to it. Next the dustbins were not placed near food court which became difficult to discard the waste, many people started littering. So there could be more seating arrangements can be done and install more dustbins, specially around eating area.

Yours faithfully,

Shenaz

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify Atif Aslam’s concert, explain your enjoyment through his performance, the atmosphere and food, and offer practical suggestions about seating and bins. The positive response is supported with personal details, such as attending with friends and trying different delicacies. Your improvement points are relevant and explain their effects on attendees, so the letter fulfils its purpose. To make the ideas more fully developed, clarify how the council could address the seating shortage—for example, by adding seats or managing capacity—and specify where extra bins would be most useful. The opening also signals that you are writing to provide feedback, maintaining a clear purpose throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening, a paragraph identifying the concert, a description of what you enjoyed, and a final paragraph of suggestions. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Next” help readers follow the recommendations, and the closing is appropriate. This coherent organisation meets the lower-band expectations, while the personal details support progression. However, some links are mechanical or repetitive: “As earlier mentioned” repeats the point about being a fan, and “Overall I enjoyed it a lot” restates the preceding praise. The final paragraph also combines the problems and solutions in a long sequence. Use clearer sentence boundaries and vary references to the concert and its features to make cohesion more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range to describe the event and your reactions, including “mesmerized,” “theme,” “vibe,” “delicacies,” and “littering.” These choices communicate enthusiasm and identify practical concerns, while “seating arrangement” and “food court” suit the topic. There are also some awkward or imprecise expressions that limit naturalness, such as “some scope of improvement,” “dream come true concert,” and “cherry on the top.” “Beautifully organised” is positive but general, and “different delicacies” could be more specific. Aim for more precise, natural collocations and avoid repeating “concert” and “enjoyed” where a more exact description would add detail. Meaning remains clear despite these slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can follow the main message. However, several sentence-boundary and clause-structure errors make control inconsistent. For example, “First of all thank you for organising such a wonderful concert, I really enjoyed it” joins two complete clauses with only a comma. “I am writing this you” has an incorrect structure, while “So there could be more seating arrangements can be done” combines incompatible constructions. There are also agreement and article issues in “There are some feedback” and “the number of audience.” Practise separating independent clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences easier to read.
