Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to provide my feedback on the concert, which I had attended in local park.My name is Sukhdeep Kaur and I live in brampton .

It was my pleasure to be a part of one of the most interesting concert which was realted to different kinds of food. This event was well-organised and overall the ambience incredibly full of fun.

One primary thing which I enjoyed the most about this concert was the variety in food I tried.I came to know about the multi cultural cuisines .Apart from this,I got a chance to interact with multi-nationality people, which helped me to understand their culture in food.

I would like to suggest to arrange some seating for elderly people,as they had to stand while enjoying food. This change can make the experience more enjoyable.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Sukhdeep Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the event as a concert focused on different kinds of food, explain that you enjoyed trying varied cuisines and meeting people from different backgrounds, and suggest seating for elderly attendees. These points address the main prompts, but the response is only 146 words, below the required 150, and the concert itself is not clearly identified by a specific name or type beyond its food theme. The reasons for enjoying it are relevant but briefly stated, and the improvement suggestion is limited to one practical change without further detail. To strengthen the letter, identify the concert more precisely, develop your reasons with a concrete example, and explain how the seating change would help attendees.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph describing the event, a paragraph explaining what you enjoyed, a suggestion, and a polite closing. This logical progression makes the message easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Apart from this” and “as,” and the reference to “This change” clearly connects the suggestion to the need for seating. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and punctuation spacing makes connections less smooth, as in “concert, which” and “Apart from this,I.” The opening also introduces your name and location without a clear role in the feedback. Use consistent spacing and punctuation, and make each paragraph’s purpose more directly connected to the council’s request.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the topic and includes some useful expressions, such as “well-organised,” “ambience,” “variety,” and “multi cultural cuisines.” These choices help convey a positive impression and the cultural aspect of the event. You also attempt less common wording, although some phrases are inaccurate or unnatural: “multi-nationality people” is not idiomatic, and “the ambience incredibly full of fun” does not form a natural collocation. There are also spelling and form errors, including “realted” and “multi cultural.” Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “people from different cultural backgrounds” and “the atmosphere was lively.” A slightly wider range of specific words for the music, performers, or audience would also make the feedback more vivid.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including “One primary thing which I enjoyed the most about this concert was…” and the clause explaining that meeting people helped you understand their food culture. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “which I had attended” uses an unnecessary past perfect, and “in local park” needs an article. In “one of the most interesting concert,” the noun should be plural, while “the ambience incredibly full of fun” is missing a verb. There are also punctuation and spacing issues around commas. Practise accurate article use, agreement, and complete clause structure, while retaining the longer sentences you have attempted.
