Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing to share my reviews regarding the concert that was held this summer in Central Park.

My name is Jaspreet Kaur and I am residing nearby the City Of Caledon; on July 15th I have attended the concert of Arjan Dhillon who is the great singer and author. All the concerts were eye-catching but I am more fond of music, so I chose to attend that one.

The concert had all the amenties including food, games and abduance of seating space. I enjoyed the function because of its ambience and staff co-operation, they were truely supportive at ticket counters. The atmosphere was really mesmerising and aesthetic which impressed me alot.

Everything was done so well as there was not much room for improvements, however the lighting and sound system could be better. There were multiple technical glitches therefore the music had been intrupted several times. Moreover, the stage area shall be expanded because the place was so conjusted for musicians.

I hope you take this into your kind consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Jaspreet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify the Arjan Dhillon concert and its date, explain that you enjoyed the atmosphere and helpful staff, and suggest improvements to the lighting, sound system and stage space. These details make the letter relevant and give the council usable feedback. Your reasons for enjoying the event are clear, although some are stated rather generally—for example, “ambience” and “aesthetic” are not supported with a specific moment or detail. The improvement suggestions are more concrete, especially the technical glitches and cramped stage area. To strengthen the response further, develop one or two points with a brief example and make the feedback consistently precise. The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal letter, though the salutation should match the requested “Dear Sir or Madam,” more closely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces the purpose, identifies the concert, describes positive aspects, and then turns to suggestions. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “however” and “Moreover” make the shift to improvements easy to follow. The sequence is logical and the message remains clear throughout. Some links between ideas could be smoother: the sentence beginning “I enjoyed the function because of its ambience and staff co-operation” joins several points in a way that feels crowded, while “All the concerts were eye-catching” is not closely connected to the specific concert you attended. Grouping related details and using clearer sentence boundaries would make the progression more polished and cohesion less noticeable.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including relevant terms such as “technical glitches,” “sound system,” “ticket counters” and “stage area.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “mesmerising” and “ambience,” which help convey your reaction. However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “abduance of seating space,” “eye-catching” for concerts, and “take this into your kind consideration.” Spelling errors such as “amenties,” “truely,” “alot” and “intrupted” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise, straightforward wording will be more effective than several ambitious adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“because of its ambience”) and a contrast introduced by “however.” The main message is generally understandable, and some sentences are controlled, such as “Moreover, the stage area shall be expanded because the place was so conjusted for musicians.” Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “on July 15th I have attended” uses an unsuitable tense for a completed event; “I am residing nearby the City Of Caledon” has an awkward present form and preposition pattern; and the sentence about ambience and staff cooperation joins independent ideas with a comma. Use the past simple for the concert and review sentence boundaries, articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
